It started at a stoplight.
You know those moments, you pull up and someone is standing there with a sign, asking for help.
For a long time, I’d look away… feeling a little shame when I didn’t have anything to give.
But lately, I’ve been trying something different.
I’ve been offering eye contact.
Just seeing them. Human to human.
Sometimes I have a dollar. Sometimes I don’t.
But every time I choose to see them, there’s a shift…
a nod, a smile, a soft exchange of humanity.
And it doesn’t stop there.
It’s the same with strangers on the street.
With the people in my life.
With the ones I love most.
Less distracted attention…
more presence.
Because let’s be honest, my mind wanders. A lot.
But I keep bringing it back.
And in that return, I feel it…
more awareness, more connection, more heart.
To be seen is powerful.
To truly see someone else? Even more so.
So today, look someone in the eyes.
Not in a way that feels intense or invasive…
but soft, kind, and real.
It might just be your way to a better day 🤍
