Have you been missing our classes? Well, our second Summer Social Skate is coming up this Saturday!

If you want a little taste of what’s to come in classes, a hint of summer, and loads of fun, come skate with us this Saturday from 3pm-5pm!

The Summer Social Skate is a free event being hosted by the ! It includes Open Skating, a half hour of instruction by our program manager and exhibitions from international athletes competing this Fall as part of Team USA! 🇺🇸

Tomorrow is our FIRST Summer Social Skate! This is a FREE event for non-members and members of the YMCA, skaters of all skills and ages, and even folks who just want to come see what we are all about.

We will have session time, some instruction by our Program Manager Coach Candice, and exhibitions from some of the top skaters in the US!

These ladies will be competing internationally this fall and we will be running a donation based fundraiser to help them with their travel funds.

Join us for our FREE Social Skates on August 13th and August 27th!

These end of summer celebrations will include Open Skating, some instruction and demonstrations from skaters that will be competing internationally this Fall as part of Team USA!

The Social Skates will also include donation based fundraisers for these ladies to help with their travel fund so invite all of your skating friends and family!

Registration has opened for both of our Fall Semesters!

Rising Stars is our tiered class for ages 5-12 to learn the fundamentals of skating! Those new to our program will begin in Level 1 and are tested at the end of each semester to see if they are ready for the next Level!

You are now able to sign your skaters up for either Monday OR Wednesday class. If your skater would still like to participate on both Monday and Wednesday, sign them up both!

Today begins our Spring 8 week session with the Y! Spring is a season that brings new things, including a new instructor!

Meet Coach Sierra! Skating became a little escape for Sierra during quarantine and has helped her become part of a new community here in Santa Barbara. Everyone has their own unique style and she’s found it it inspiring to watch and learn from others. Now, she’s ready to help our skaters discover their passion!

Our classes derive from the Star Skate Program. All skaters begin in Level 1 for at least their first 8 week session with us. We test skaters skills at the end of each session to see if they are ready to progress into the next Level! Once they graduate from Level 4, they move into our Advanced and Intermediate classes that prepare them for competition!

Testing for our current Level 1 and Level 2 skaters will take place next Wednesday, March 30th from 3:30pm-5:00pm. The more skaters we have graduate into Level 2, the more we can welcome in from our wait list! We are so excited to see progress and welcome more friends into our skating family!

Last week we held our first round of testing for our Rising Stars. 10 of our athletes were able to demonstrate their ability to perform all of our level one skills accurately. Those that did not pass we’re very close and will continue in level one once again to finish mastering their skills.

As our first 7 week program with the YMCA is coming to an end, we are preparing our Rising Stars for their first round of testing! On Wednesday December 15th, our usual class will consist of group and individual testing of all the skating skills we practice weekly. Skaters who show they can successfully execute these skills will be promoted to the Level 2 Class.

Skaters who still need time to master these skills will be encouraged to work hard and stay in the Level 1 class until the next round of testing half way through our 8 week Winter Session (January 12th - March 19th)

When we start our new program in January, the schedule will strictly be as follows:

⭐️Wednesdays⭐️
3:30-4:00pm Open Skating/Warm Up
4:00pm-4:30pm Level 1
4:30pm-5:00pm Level 2

⭐️Saturdays⭐️
2:00pm-2:30pm Open Skating/Warm Up
2:30pm-3:00pm Level 1
3:00pm-3:30pm Level 2

Skaters not actively in class will be welcomed and encouraged to stay on half of the floor to practice their skills and skate the full hour and a half.
