“It’s that time of year. It's easy to lose motivation. Morning workouts are dark and cold. Afternoon workouts are cold. Evening workouts are dark and cold. What I've learned in 6 years building K1 is there is no amount of motivation that can be provided to entice anyone to be their best self in the gym. It's a very personal decision. You either decide to do it or you decide not to do it. If you are relying on someone to motivate you to keep your health moving forward you will fail eventually. What motivates me is what I want my health to be in 20 years. Health starts with your fuel and ends with your fuel. The gym is definitely the other key to keeping your bones, heart and mind healthy. If you eat sugar, hidden sugars and flour daily your body will eventually enter the chronic disease state that America is in. Our bodies can endure (suffer patiently) that type of fuel as we are young, but as we age our bodies eventually say "nope, enough" and the collapse begins. The bp, memory, chronic aches, chronic fatigue, skin issues, excess weight, etc.....all start to set in. The cause is not something that we did in the past year, it is what we have done over the past 20, 30, 40 years.
I want to address this because it is not being addressed. Doctors are taught how to prescribe temporary fixes. Taking the meds but not stopping the ingestion of the problem (wrong food) is counter productive. Which is why it eventually turns into a list of prescriptions but never feeling wonderful again.
If you are losing motivation in the gym, find what motivates you. Try your swim suit on every night. Follow inspirational athletes. Follow doctors speaking the truth. Challenge yourself to something. K1 has 4 programs! You won't find that at another gym. Lions is a great 30 minute (average) strength and endurance workout leaving you with a great sense of accomplishment. Make it your own. K1 Fit 30 is a 20-30 minute cardio workout, great for heart health. The Homebody workout is a low impact, dumbbell and core routine. And the daily workout is a little bit of all of those programs. If you think you need more core in your life...if you are doing any of these 4 programs you are getting plenty of core. The key to a trim core is your fuel. Weightlifting absolutely requires a braced core which is a workout in itself. Fuel and consistency in the gym is the key.
Stay motivated. Dig deep and find what motivates you to stay in good health! I'm very passionate about pain-free aging and I'm passionate about the health of my K1 members! I'd love to talk to you if you need encouragement!”
