🟣🟡 WHERE ARE THEY NOW WEDNESDAY 🟡🟣
This week, Sanger Sports Corner is proud to feature 2015 Sanger High School graduate Morgan Turkoly Childress!
During her time in Sanger, Morgan participated in softball, volleyball and NJHS. Her journey since graduation has included a successful collegiate softball career, professional success, marriage and motherhood—and she was recently selected for one of the highest honors an athlete can receive from their university.
📍 WHERE IS SHE NOW?
Morgan currently lives in Dallas and works for Texas Capital, a regional bank serving major markets across Texas.
As a Sales Operations Lead, Morgan supports the sales organization by providing reporting and insights related to sales-generated revenue activities.
While she is proud of her professional career, Morgan says her greatest joy comes from her family.
“Since graduating, the things I’m most proud of are marrying my husband and becoming a mom to our almost eight-month-old son, Jack! He is the happiest, sweetest baby, and becoming a mom has truly been my greatest joy and purpose. I absolutely love this chapter of life and feel so grateful for my family!”
🏆 LOUISIANA TECH HALL OF FAME
Morgan’s athletic career did not end when she graduated from Sanger.
She continued playing softball at Louisiana Tech University, where she competed for four years and established a legacy that will now be permanently recognized.
Morgan has been selected as a member of the 2026 Louisiana Tech Athletics Hall of Fame induction class!
“It is such an incredible honor to be recognized by the place that played such a special role in my life!”
💜 HER FAVORITE SANGER MEMORY
Morgan’s favorite SHS memory was receiving the opportunity to play varsity volleyball alongside her younger sister, Maci.
Morgan was a senior while Maci was a freshman, making it the first time the two sisters had ever played on the same team.
“That season was especially meaningful. We made so many great memories together, and it’s something we still talk and laugh about today!”

❤️ THOSE WHO MADE AN IMPACT
Many coaches and teachers influenced Morgan during her time in Sanger, but two people stand out most: Coach Sykes and Coach Montgomery.
Coach Sykes began making an impact on Morgan long before she entered high school through athletic summer camps during her elementary and middle school years. That influence continued throughout her time at Sanger High School.
Morgan also developed a special relationship with Coach Montgomery.
“He always had a way of making me feel lighter and bringing positive energy wherever he went.”
What means even more to Morgan is that Coach Montgomery continued checking on her after high school and followed her collegiate career.
“That thoughtfulness is something I will always appreciate and remember.”
🏐 THE TEAM IS GREATER THAN THE INDIVIDUAL
One lesson from her time as a Sanger Indian has remained with Morgan throughout every stage of her life:
The team is always greater than the individual.
Morgan has played team sports throughout her life and understands how easy it can be to become focused on personal goals and accomplishments. However, her experiences taught her that supporting the people around you and working together toward a shared goal will ultimately take you further.
That lesson applies far beyond athletics—it applies to family, school, careers and every other part of life.
💬 MORGAN’S ADVICE TO TODAY’S SANGER STUDENTS AND STUDENT-ATHLETES
“Leave it better than you found it.”
Morgan says that advice came from an influential coach and has continued to guide her throughout her life.
“Always strive to make things better than you found them, whether that’s your team, your school, your community or yourself. Keep pushing yourself to be better, do better and leave a positive impact wherever you go.”
🪶 BEING A SANGER INDIAN MEANS…
“Being a Sanger Indian means holding yourself and those around you to a higher standard. It means representing your school and community with pride and always striving to make them better. I know I’m incredibly proud to be a Sanger Indian!”
Although Morgan has been out of high school for several years, she still returns to Sanger to support the Indians—especially because she continues to have family in the community.
She says she enjoys coming back, watching Sanger sports and experiencing everything from a different perspective.
“Sanger will always be a big part of who I am, and I’ll always be proud to call myself a Sanger Indian!”

From Sanger High School to Louisiana Tech, the Texas Capital team and now motherhood, Morgan continues to represent the values of hard work, teamwork, family and leaving every place better than she found it.
