Congratulations to Ashton Grahl, our Girls Cross Country Athlete of the Week!

Shortly after the start of the Marcus T Invite, Ashton was spiked by another runner and lost one of her shoes. She didn’t stop. She battled through the entire three-mile course wearing only one spike—and still finished with a great time!

That is toughness. That is determination. That is TRUE GRIT!

🏃‍♂️ BOYS CROSS COUNTRY RECAP 🏃‍♂️

The Sanger Indians had an outstanding day competing against programs from across Class 1A through 6A at the highly competitive Marcus T Invite!

The boys delivered personal records, broke through barriers and earned three impressive finishes within the Class 4A standings:

🥇 Varsity Elite: 1st in 4A and 7th overall
🥈 Varsity Open: 2nd in 4A and 20th overall
🥈 JV Elite: 2nd in 4A and 15th overall

What a fantastic start to the competition phase of the season! Next up, the Indians will head to the Gerald Richey Invitational for their pre-regional meet.

When your defense comes up huge in a 24-22 road win, there are plenty of guys deserving of recognition—but #90 Dezmond Sampson put together an absolute MONSTER performance against Paris. 🔥

The Sanger Indians went into Paris Friday night and came home with a hard-fought 24-22 WIN over the Paris Wildcats! 💜💛

And once again, this Sanger defense made its presence felt in a BIG way.

#90 Dezmond Sampson led the charge with an incredible night:

Sanger and Van Alstyne both survived close ones, while Krum, Muenster, Benbrook and Ponder put up some BIG numbers on the scoreboard.

🏐🔥 BIG WIN FOR THE LADY INDIANS! 🔥🏐

The Sanger Lady Indians earned an impressive four-set victory over a talented Holliday team!

Final: Sanger 3, Holliday 1

✅ Set 1: 25–19
❌ Set 2: 21–25
✅ Set 3: 25–23
✅ Set 4: 25–18

Holliday has a strong volleyball tradition and featured some of the best outside hitters the Lady Indians have faced this season, including No. 3, who is committed to play at the University of North Texas.

Sanger responded with a phenomenal defensive performance. The Lady Indians did an outstanding job slowing Holliday’s attack, reading the defense and consistently finding the open spots on the court.

Great team win, Lady Indians! 💜💛

The Sanger Indians go on the road to Paris and come home with a 24-22 VICTORY over the Wildcats! 💜💛🏈

For the second straight week, the Sanger defense came up HUGE when the Indians needed it most. Two games. Two hard-fought wins. And Sanger is officially 2-0 to start the 2026 season! 💪
