It’s official-official ‼️ The Troon Grand Opening event on The Matchbox, complete with ribbon cutting, played host to Media and VIPs today as To***co Road Golf’s new 12.5-hole short course from the minds CarltonMarshallGolfDesign and former Mike Strantz shaper Mark White continues to welcome golfers in search of creative shots and a sublime walk through the trees next to To***co Road’s 12th green and 13th tee. Built in just 6 months without the need for irrigation or mass clear-cutting of trees — and with its own Clubhouse — The Matchbox is fun, unconventional and unforgettable. It’s been a whirlwind to bring this labor of love to life in just 6 months, but the opening is here — and we’re proud to share our special brand of short-game fun with To***co Road’s friends, family and golf travelers to the beautiful North Carolina Sandhills. The Matchbox is only in preview play this week but we already have an epic double-up. Austin Tennant arrived at the 11th hole never having made a hole in one. Then he found the back slop perfectly for an ace. But he wasn’t done yet. On his second loop, he did it again. On the same hole. Same ball. Same day. This time with three guys staying in Stewart Cabin up on the green watching it drop plus Mr. Bunch Carolina Pines Golf and Matt Junior along for the historic pre-opening ride.
The Mstchbox To***co Road Golf opens Saturday (August 1). Book tee times now thru December. Maybe you’ll be next.

No. 7 on The Matchbox To***co Road Golf is the rare hole where you’re invited to hit two off the tee (two tees, actually). After the wedge shot over water, the walk to the green takes you over to the “7.5” teebox where you can putt a second ball down the slope for a douple-dip. Where else do you have a chance to make two aces on the same hole?

Just down the road from The Road, our entrance to The Matchbox is taking shape. Sign went up yesterday, parking lot (separate from To***co Road’s main lot for easier access) is leveled. Public play starts Saturday. Tee Times are now available through December.
