When you’re new to training, almost anything will work.
That’s not a bad thing. it’s actually your superpower. ✨

Whether you lift weights, go for walks, start a step challenge, or finally join that gym you’ve been eyeing, your body will likely respond positively. Why? Because any positive shift in your routine is a new stimulus.

As a beginner, you don’t need the “perfect” plan. You need consistency, momentum, and a bit of patience.

Moral of the story? Don’t overthink it. Start moving. Everything works at first.

If you keep treating your body like trash, don’t be shocked when it breaks down like a 2003 Corolla with no oil change.

Skipping workouts? Living off energy drinks, vibes, and leftovers from your kid’s lunchbox?

That might fly in your twenties… but longevity requires effort.
You have to earn feeling good.

This isn’t about perfection — it’s about ownership.

Another great lower session in the books. I hit a lifetime PR of 400lbs. for 5 and by the way progress is rolling, I don’t see a ceiling to progress coming for a while.

With that being said, I did have to pivot a bit and remove Hacks. As much as I love the exercise, I noticed that when I go into my following Lower session after 4 sleeps my knees still don’t feel “fresh”.

As a substitution, I’m going to be giving the Rogers Power Squat a go. Since it doesn’t have a back pad like a true Pendulum Squat I can use a little bit of hip flexion and allow my glutes to “help” my quads a bit which hopefully will keep my knees feeling as fresh as a summer’s breeze.

Side note: we call the Rogers Squat “Big Red”. Because if you don’t chew Big Red, then f_____ you.

Captain Not So Good At Regularly Posting On Instagram checking in.

This session was productive and I was able to add some load and reps in quite a few spots which was awesome. With that being said, I am starting to hit the threshold of how much my elbows can handle of the Overhead Triceps Extension machine, so I’m going to have to probably go back to the pulley variant I was using for a while. I knew the day was coming and probably kept the movement in my program about a month too long.

It can be tough to admit that something just doesn’t work for us due to limb lengths, previous injuries, etc. But, if we reframe things a bit and take into account how much more progress we can make if we didn’t try to shove a square peg into a round hole, sometimes divorcing an exercise can be a little bit easier of a pill to swallow.
