Recently we suffered a tragic loss of a Cogito member. We see a different side of everyone in each environment, but we never truly know the battles someone may be facing. To me, this person was a training partner and a friend. He always showed up with a smile, ready to put in the effort, and his presence brought positivity to those around him.
Sadly, he recently chose to take his own life. He was still a teenager. There were no signs, no hints that he was carrying such a heavy burden. Processing this loss has brought waves of grief—numbness, anger, confusion, guilt—but most of all, a deep sadness for the future absence of such a kind soul.
Life is a precious gift, and so are the people we share it with. As we remember our friend, I want to honor his life by encouraging anyone who may be struggling to reach out. You are not alone.
September is National Su***de Prevention Month, if you ever find yourself in a dark place, please talk to someone you trust—my door is always open. Additionally, the Su***de and Crisis Lifeline is 988, where you may choose to stay anonymous.
Contact me or Dillon if you would like to know the funeral arrangements. 🙏
Rest in peace, my friend. You will be deeply missed.
