A lot of you know Jodi Hollingshead Frkovich — Bracken Frkovich's mom — who's been right in the middle of our tournaments working her tail off to take care of all of us. She ran the bone marrow swab booth, and she's the one who donates the meat for our BBQs tourney after tourney. Jodi shows up for this league constantly. Now it's our turn to show up for her. 💪

Jodi and the crew at Children and the Earth, Inc. are putting on their BIGGEST fundraiser of the year, and every dollar goes to supporting kids facing serious medical challenges — giving those families adventure, community, and a whole lot of smiles.

🏆 CONGRATULATIONS TO THE MEMORIAL DAY 2026 TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS! 🏆

What an absolute battle on the dirt! A massive shoutout to the winning squad—check out their official championship photo attached below. They dug deep, played hard, and earned every bit of that hardware.

Speaking of absolute dominance, we also have to tip our caps to Captain Thomas Soeby, who took his squad on a legendary run and went completely UNDEFEATED in the tournament! Coming out of his little captain hiatus straight into a flawless record? The Moneyline masterplan clearly paid off. 💸🔥

🙌 AN ABSOLUTE TEAM EFFORT
An event this massive doesn't just happen on its own. We had so many people randomly step up throughout the entire day to help out with the BBQ, manage the raffle tent, jump in on field prep, and keep everything running seamlessly. Whether you flipped a burger, sold a ticket, or threw a bag of trash in the dumpster, thank you! It was a total group effort and we couldn't do it without the Sandlot family.

A huge thank you as well to our umpires who held down the strike zone all day to keep the games safe, fair, and moving fast so we didn't lose the lights!

🔥 THE MEMORIAL DAY 2026 DRAFT IS COMPLETE! 🔥

The war rooms have closed, the teams are set, and the rosters are locked in! Check out the attached photos below to find your squad and view the official tournament bracket for your game times.

We still need to hunt down two missing phone numbers before the first pitch. Peter Re and Brandon Cordova—we do not have your contact info in the system! Please message me directly ASAP so we can get you plugged into your team group chats.

⏰ CRITICAL TIME SCHEDULES: WE WILL START EARLY!
Show Up Early: We can and will start games up to 30 minutes early if the field clears. If your team isn’t there and ready when the umpire calls for it, you are actively burning your own game time. Don’t be the reason your squad starts behind the 8-ball.

The Lights Out Deadline: The championship "If" game is scheduled for 9:00 PM, but the park lights automatically shut off at 10:00 PM sharp. If we fall behind schedule during the day, we risk losing our championship 'if' game.

Game Speed Rules: To keep things flying, games are strictly 50 minutes or 7 innings. Batters start with a 1-1 count, and there are NO courtesy fouls. The mercy rule is 20 runs after 5 innings.

🍔 THE SANDLOT BBQ: FEATURING FRANKIE & POPS!
Our legendary grill masters Frankie and Pops are holding down the kitchen! They are loaded up with 350 burgers and 500 hot dogs to keep you fueled.

Hours: The grill opens mid-morning and will shut down around 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM (or whenever the food runs out).

Tipping: They will have a tip jar out front, but rumor has it they also happily accept cold alcoholic beverages as tips. Take care of the guys feeding you!

🎟️ THE GIANT BAT RAFFLE
Jeff is running the raffle tent this year, kicking off around 9:00 AM. We have an incredible lineup of high-end bats to win. Anthony Lucero absolutely stepped up big time and personally sponsored two of the bats in the prize pool! Tickets will be on sale all morning, and we will announce the winners at 2:00 PM right after the first round of elimination games.

🏆 THE SPORTSMANSHIP BAT AWARD
We are handing out an extra, completely free bat at the end of the tournament to the single player who demonstrates the absolute best sportsmanship on and off the dirt. Want to win it? It's simple:

Keep your cool and don't yell at the umpires.

Pick up trash that isn't yours.

Help a player up from the other team.

Keep the vibes positive.

Just be a good human being who respects the game.

⚖️ RESPECT THE UMPS & CLEAN UP THE PARK
The Blue Crew: Todd, Tommy, and Marco are our umpires for the day. They are out here working hard so we can play. Treat them with respect, keep the chirping to a zero, and just play ball.

The Half-Drank Soda Epidemic: We have an awkward, massive amount of free sodas and water bottles for everyone. Last year, we spent hours picking up hundreds of half-finished drinks scattered across the grass. Finish your full drink before cracking a new one, and toss it in the bin.

Trash Management: We will have extra trash bags available around the dugouts. Please help us out and do not overfill the cans to the point of spilling. Let’s leave this park looking even better than we found it!

👑 THE FINAL CAPTAINS & A HISTORIC LEAGUE UPDATE! 👑
Fellas, the demand for this Memorial Day Draft Tournament has broken the system. Due to an absolute flood of registrations, we are officially expanding to 11 teams for the first time ever! 🚀 History is being made this Sunday.

Before we lock the war rooms, let’s introduce our final five captains in alphabetical order. Let's see who is ready to draft a masterpiece and who is drafting a ticket straight to the losers' bracket.

👑 CAPTAIN #7: Anthony Lucero
Anthony is a long-time veteran captain who is desperate to finally hoist that Memorial Day hardware. We love his hustle, but we just hope he keeps his feet on the ground this year; the last time he played a tournament, he tried to leap the outfield fence like Spider-Man for a fly ball and ended up with a shattered wrist. 🧱🦴 Safety first this weekend, Anthony—we need you alive for the BBQ.

👑 CAPTAIN #8: Joey Gines
TODAY IS JOEY'S BIRTHDAY! 🎂🥳 We all know Joey brings an absolute certified missile launcher of a bat to the plate, but if the man isn't standing safely on the pitcher's mound, his defense becomes a literal hazardous work zone. ⚠️ Drop a happy birthday in the comments, but don't get too nice—come Friday night, we fully expect him to get completely blind on birthday shots and draft a squad of ghost players by the 5th round. 🍹🥴

👑 CAPTAIN #9: RJ Robinson
RJ is back in the captain's chair and taking his preparation to a whole new level. The man famously hauls his own personal hitting net down to the park just to get his warm-up cuts in before the first pitch is even thrown. We expect him to be an absolute sharpshooter with his upcoming selections, so let's just hope he doesn't suffer a total misfire in the first round and draft a squad that completely blanks on Sunday.

👑 CAPTAIN #10: Scott J Carson
Talk about a demotion. Scott is our former league Commissioner who used to run the entire show, but now he’s been stripped of his power, forced down into the trenches, and is just a regular old captain like the rest of these degenerates. 📉👑 Let's see if the ex-boss still remembers how to build a squad from the ground up, or if the game has completely passed him by.

👑 CAPTAIN #11: Thomas Soeby
The prodigal son returns! Thomas was previously holding down the captain duties, took a little hiatus, and has officially emerged from the shadows to reclaim his clipboard. 📋💥 Thomas usually rolls with his squad "Moneyline," but since this is a draft format, he can't just buy his friends this time—let's see if his drafting skills are actually a safe bet or if he's about to completely bust on his payout. 💸📉

MORE CAPTAIN ANNOUNCEMENTS: WE ARE OFFICIALLY FULL!

Fellas, the response has been absolutely insane—we are officially capped out and completely full for Sunday! I had to run out of state unexpectedly for a family emergency, so I won't be able to post the final, color-coded player roster list until later tonight or early tomorrow morning. But the show must go on, so let’s introduce four more captains who think they have what it takes to draft a championship squad!

👑 CAPTAIN #3: “ALEX” Alejandro Guerrero
Alex has been roaming our dirt for decades and holding down a captain spot for the last few seasons. Back in the day, the man used to have an absolute cannon of an arm in the outfield, but times have changed; rumor has it he can’t even throw out Brandon "The Commish" while he leisurely trots his way to second base. 🐌🦴 Let’s see if his draft strategy has more velocity than his throws.

👑 CAPTAIN #4: Bridger R Shields
Bridger is a former captain who completely abandoned us to go run a coed team, but now he's crawled back to the men's sandbox claiming he is desperate to win it all. We won't bring up his recent, catastrophic bicycle crash too much 🚲💥—mostly because he already has enough to deal with just being known as the significantly less talented brother to his older brother, Payton. Let's see if he can finally outshine the family shadow at the draft board this Friday.

👑 CAPTAIN #5: Christopher Hall- State Farm Agent
Chris is a returning captain and a massive league sponsor as our local State Farm Agent. Now look, Chris is actually a phenomenal agent and will get you the absolute best coverage in real life—which is great, because his softball team is going to need a massive insurance policy after the beatdown they take this Sunday. 🚘💼 Like a good neighbor, Chris is there... to draft a squad that hopefully covers up his own defensive gaps.

👑 CAPTAIN #6: FERNANDO Fer Romo
Fernando is another true Sandlot veteran who has been competing hard in this league for decades. The only thing longer than his tenure is his tragic, undying loyalty to the Denver Broncos, which he insists on showing off 24/7. 🐴🧡 Word on the street is he's already trying to corrupt the league by under-the-table trading draft picks for vintage jerseys and nosebleed Mile High tickets, so the front office will be watching his board very closely. 🧐🎟️

After years on the Sandlot, Steven is finally taking the big chair, and as you can see by the cold beer in his official photo, his athletic preparation is absolutely unmatched. 🍺⚡️ He recently made headlines by holding down Left Field in a 3-man outfield, a tactical masterpiece strictly credited to his blinding, cheetah-like speed. 💨✈️ Don’t blink during the draft, fellas—he might just sprint away from his own draft board (or at least back to the cooler for a refill).

👑 CAPTAIN #2: Nikoli Romo
Talk about a pure legacy pick; Nikoli has been kicking up dust here for over a decade, watching his dad, Marco Romo, hold down captain duties just last year for the Memorial Day 2025 tournament. Nikoli actually took this season off to welcome a new baby and start his own family, but he's officially coming out of semi-retirement and putting down the diapers to take over the Romo family business. The pressure is absolutely on—will he live up to Marco’s blueprint with that new dad strength, or will sleep deprivation tank the Romo dynasty right out of the gate? 🍼📉👀
