🏁 RACE WEEKEND RECAP — FLAT ROCK & TOLEDO 🏁

What a wild weekend for the team! We had some good speed, some bad luck, and a decision that was bigger than racing.

Saturday — Flat Rock Speedway

We fired the car up for engine heat and came back to the trailer to find coolant leaking from the top of the engine. We shut the motor down, pulled apart the return coolant line connector, and found a broken O-ring.

We spent the next few minutes running around the pits looking for a specialty O-ring. Thankfully, we found one, got everything back together, and made it out just in time to be the last car on track for practice.

We made the most of it, going 5th quick. 3rd through 7th in practice were separated by only .007 seconds, so the competition was tight!

Our heat race wasn’t our best, finishing 6th, but it put us in position to make the inversion and start 4th in the feature.

We were running right there for the first four laps when a caution came out. I chose the bottom on the choose cone, which should have put us on the front row, but for some reason we ended up being placed back around 6th–8th. We fought hard from there and stayed in the mix for the majority of the race.

Coming to the checkered flag, the car in front of us got loose coming off Turn 4, and I was able to drive around them on the outside to pick up another position. 🏁

Sunday — Toledo Speedway

Toledo is the fastest track we race at all year, and we knew we had our work cut out for us.

We struggled in practice with getting the car off the corners and ended up 9th quick. We made a big improvement in qualifying, picking up a full second and qualifying 5th quick!

With no heat races, we went straight to the feature and started 6th.

Unfortunately, we just couldn’t get the car to go where we needed it to in the feature. The car was also running hot, and with everything we’ve been through with engines this year, I made the decision to pull the car down pit lane rather than risk hurting another motor.

It wasn’t the ending we wanted, but sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture and make the smart decision for the rest of the season.

🏁 Race Weekend is Here! 🏁

It’s time for another busy doubleheader for the team!

📍 Saturday, August 8 – Flat Rock Speedway
📍 Sunday, August 9 – Toledo Speedway

New York Race Recap. 🏁

It was a night full of highs and lows for the team at Lancaster Motorplex.

We rolled out for the first practice, but the car wasn’t running right. We pulled into the pits and went over everything on the motor but couldn’t find anything wrong. We went back out for the second practice, and while it was much better, it still took a few laps before the engine came up to full power.

We qualified 11th and lined up 2nd for our heat race. We jumped out to the early lead and led a couple of laps before settling for a strong 2nd-place finish.

That put us on the front row for the feature. We got out front early and led the opening laps until a caution on lap 4. On the restart, the car just didn’t take off like it had before, and we dropped back to 2nd while chasing down the leader. Another caution came out, and this time we restarted on the bottom where there was absolutely no grip. We were able to recover and hold onto 2nd for a few laps before the two fastest cars worked their way by us.

We were closing back in on 3rd when disaster struck. On lap 10, the car behind us made contact with our right rear, destroying the wheel, blowing out the tire, and sending us spinning into the wall. The damage included a bent wheel, bent rear radius rods, bent nerf bar, broken nerf bar frame mount, and a bent radiator and radiator bracket.

It’s a frustrating way to end what was shaping up to be a great night, but that’s racing. A huge thank you to Frank Neill, our crew, our sponsors, and everyone who supports this team. We already have all the replacement parts ordered, and the crew has worked hard to get the car nearly back together.

Now it’s time to turn the page. We’ll be ready to chase redemption this weekend at Flat Rock Speedway on Saturday August 8th and Toledo Speedway on Sunday August 9th. We’ll see everyone at the track! 💪🏁
