Yesterday I walked in to the Bonner County Fairgrounds and immediately smiled with joy. This is why we persevere, I thought. It was 30 adults with the hearts of children on a playground, testing themselves as they did with kickball back in the day. It was pairing of yellow jersey clad players having the time of their life It was the Fun Tournament of the PPC, giving a dose of pickleball 0-0-2, the most addictive drug in sports. Kudo's to Kelly, Ann, and Wendi for a well run and efficient fun tournament by the looks of the final pictures. The sound of it was amazing, just like when you drive by the elementary school at recess, and fills you with energy.
Family showed up for support in some cases. It was the pickleball community at its best. While I feel we have only scratched the surface, I now know why I keep jumping over barriers and patiently remove roadblocks. The journey is still at its beginning it feels but we are stronger than we think. I see signs of a strong pickleball community. Pickle ON.
