The big difference is the right believes in God and the left doesn’t. So there is a moral compass on the right. The left is about the means to an end no mater what the means are. The goals justifies using any means necessary. The right doesn’t think that way. We believe in a higher authority that will judge us even if man doesn’t. That keeps the right in check.
