Forest Grove Preserve

Forest Grove Preserve Forest Grove Preserve (FGP) is a non-profit created in 2022. Presently, riding instructor Rebecca Willis boards her horses and teaches lessons at Forest Grove.

FGP's mission is to preserve the historic buildings, the land as an environmental and recreational resource, and the art collection accumulated by the stewards. Just on the east border of Sandersville, Georgia, Forest Grove Preserve practices sustainable and organic methodology to grow pecans and fruit. FGP includes 2.75 acres within a deer fence for vegetable and fruit crops and about 12 acres of

pasture divided into paddocks for livestock. FGP is has three miles of trails winding through natural woods, planted pines and open fields, for biking, running or hiking. We support the Georgia Hi-Lo Trail and it's Kids Bike League (KBL) program by providing the trails and event spaces. KBL holds a camp each summer and one riding day each month during the year. Washington County kids are taught to ride by professional staff on bikes provided by KBL. Forest Grove is a historic property originally purchased by Colonel Thomas Jefferson Warthen in 1840. The property was designated a Centennial Family Farm in 2003, and in 2004 was placed on the National Register of Historical Places. Visitors are welcome. Just call to make sure we are available for a tour.

I'm proud to say an addition to the Harper House was completed yesterday by Willie Mack and his team. You have to have an ADA ramp of course, if you are going to be open to the public. I was worried that it would take away from the historic nature of the house, but it leads into the back door and fits in nicely! Good job guys!
The impetus was to include the ADA ramp in a proposal to the GA Council of the Arts to fund the grand opening and first art show in the fall. Let's hope that request is granted!
