Are you feeling stressed out? It may feel like fitting in a workout will add more stress, but regular exercise can help reduce stress and relieve pent-up anxiety.

Studies show that daily moderate exercise can lessen feelings of stress by reducing the hormones in your body that cause those stressful feelings and will increase "feel good" endorphins that calm you. So, find time to move. Schedule in time to be active, and you will feel better for doing it!

Get in a walk today, do a HIIT body-weight workout, or perform a yoga or stretching session. All these can help you to feel relief from stress.

Whatever your choice of exercise is, calm yourself by working out.

Can simply moving more help me lose weight? The answer is absolutely yes! Just walk if you can't access a gym or use special equipment. Many of our clients have seen weight loss results from increasing their activity outside our studio.

Wearing a pedometer, fit bit, or other smart device and monitoring your total daily steps is an easy and effective way to increase your activity. Work up to 10,000 steps a day. If you are limited physically, try to challenge yourself to do as many steps as possible.

Staying active will burn calories and keep your metabolism up all day. It also keeps you in the right healthy mindset.

Some of these steps should be aerobic to increase your caloric output and work your cardiovascular system. So put some pep in your step!

Being active also helps relieve stress. It builds both physical and mental health.

Step it up!

A recent news report claimed the "best" time to exercise is in the afternoon. Over the years, many studies have been done about the "best" time to exercise. What these studies don't take into account is our individual lifestyle needs.

The most important thing is consistency with exercise. There are so many benefits to exercising any time of day. So, if your exercise time is in the morning, keep it up. You are doing yourself a world of good. If your exercise happens to be in the afternoon, keep that up too!

Exercise should be a regular part of life. Moving more is a good thing for everyone, whatever time of day. It raises your immune system, keeps you strong and helps your mood.

Try to include 150 minutes of cardio per week, at least two days of strength exercises-even body weight works, and do flexibility exercises, as often as possible. If you have physical challenges, modify your activities and do what you can.

Challenge yourself to the best of your ability and get moving every day!

Short on time? Here's a bodyweight "HIIT" workout you can do at home today. It will burn lots of calories in a short period and raise your metabolism for hours.

Perform 2- 3 rounds of these four exercises (with a 30-second rest in between each exercise):

1-minute Up-Down Plank or Modified Plank
Rest
1-minute Alternating Side Squats or Alternating Kicks
Rest
1-minute Rocker Plank or Modified Plank
Rest
1-minute Alternating Reverse lunges or Wall Sit
Rest

If you completed this workout, congratulations! You just burned mega calories and raised your metabolism!

Please consult your physician before starting any workout program.

Take one step toward being healthier today. One small step can get you moving in the right direction, and more things will follow. We may think something small won't even make a difference. It will. Just like you climb a flight of stairs, one step at a time to get to the top.

Small changes don't seem so overwhelming. Start there. Minor changes will help you to feel healthier and can help change your mindset. Make a plan to add in one new good healthy behavior at the start of each month. Give yourself 4 weeks to make your new healthy behavior a habit. Then add another one.

Remember, it takes us years to develop unhealthy health habits. Give yourself time to change. Make one small change at a time for a lifetime of good health.

A fall can cause a significant injury that may take a long time to rehab or could become a permanent disability. Working on balance training is essential, especially as we age. Danny and I often have our clients work on balance training in the studio.

An easy way to fit balance training into your workouts is to do some of your upper-body dumbbell exercises while balancing on one leg. For instance, do two sets of Biceps curls, while balancing on each leg.

Some tips for doing this exercise with good form are keeping your posture aligned, tightening your core, and focusing on something straight ahead.

Practice your balance regularly as part of your workout program.

Stay safe and healthy.
