"Applied" is
added to distinguish the style of Wing Chun taught by SiFu Duncan Leung as he learned it from Grandmaster Yip Man. There are some differences from other styles obvious in the details. Wing Chun is a complex martial art. It is possible to learn the movements and techniques without understanding the principles. But, learning the principles is where mastery is developed. Like music: one can learn to play an instrument very good, but to master it, one must learn the principles of music itself. I started martial arts with Tae Kwan Do in the 60s, and again in the 70s. By then, I had seen Bruce Lee movies. That’s what I really wanted to know, and somehow it was my fate to find Bruce Lee’s friend SiFu Duncan Leung, who was trained by the teacher of both: Grandmaster Yip Man, in the same month that I met Chuck Norris and almost joined his school. I made the best choice: SiFu Duncan Leung”
I learned Applied Wing Chun while in the U. Navy stationed in Norfolk, Virginia from 1976 - 1980, and from 1992 - 1999. I have been teaching since 2002. http://appliedwingchun.com/cms/instructors
