High school catchers who want to play D1 — the weight room is NOT optional ⬇️

I’ve been playing professionally for the last five years, but about two years ago I really started taking the gym seriously, lifting more than I ever did in college.

I began combining bodybuilding-style training with my old college lifts, focusing on building real muscle mass. And it made a huge difference in my catching.

Looking back, I wish I had started in high school.
Not because I needed the “perfect” program, but because I wish I had built the relationship with the gym that I have now.

Today, the gym is my happy place. I go because I love it. Once it became part of my daily routine, it stopped feeling like work and started feeling like something I genuinely enjoy.

That was the biggest shift for me.

As athletes, we’re always grinding, always training, and that can wear you down. But when the gym became fun instead of another obligation, it literally changed my career.

And yeah, lifting will make you stronger, we all know that. But what really matters is building a relationship with it so it doesn’t feel like work.

That’s what I wish I had in high school.

So if you’re a high school catcher with D1 goals: start now. Yes, to get stronger, but more importantly, to learn to love the process.

Working hard is just not enough.

To be successful, you have to learn from those who are where you are trying to go.

You do not know, what you do not know.

I’m on my fifth year of professional softball, and I couldn’t tell you what I wouldn’t do to have the knowledge I have today, ten years ago.

Its completely changed my game, and it allows me to play softball for a living.

There is NO REASON why younger catchers can’t be learning and training the same way I do.

You shouldn’t have to play pro for half a decade to learn the highest level strategies.

You should have access to it today.
