Group training is my favorite approach to skill development for a few reasons:

1) Players get motivated by seeing their peers excel and it pushes them

2) Proven that players retain skills better when they're able to apply them vs actual defense

3) Leaders are developed - We put players in situations where they have to lead the group in order to work on their communication and relationship building skills

4) It allows for competition! There is no better way to test out ones skills than real game situations with defenders - this is my favorite aspect of group workouts and the most fun for players

This next week we are giving away a free 7 day trial to check out our group program (new players only)

Want the free trial?

P.S.

We only have 7 spots open for the free trial. These spots will fill up fast!!!

Does your athlete constantly work on their game?

Do they look good in training sessions but are having a hard time putting it together in the game?

Does their training consist of cones, chairs, trash cans, in replace of actual defenders? (Not saying cones and that type of equipment is bad we use it every now and then. But a full training session shouldn't be revolved around just using training tools.)

If you answered yes to any of these questions here's how we can help.

The missing piece in traditional training is providing decision-making and real live defense. Every play you are making some sort of decision. But when training why are there no decisions being made? Why is there no defense on the floor? When training with us (Game Time Elite Training) We teach players the when, why, and how behind skills and concepts. It doesn't stop there like it would with traditional training. Traditional training usually fails to implement perception, decisions, and actions. 60 to 70% of our training has some sort of decision making or live defense on the court. After we teach players certain skills or concepts we put them in the situation where they will find these things vs. defense. With defense on the floor they are now able to understand how these things work in a real live setting.

This is why our players we work with get great results when working with us.

If your athlete is a serious basketball player and wants to level up their game, then send us a text at (341) 444-3545 or respond back to this post with the words “level up” and we’ll get back to you and let you know how we can get your athlete in for a FREE session.

Here is a quote from Adam Tony Robbins on how to deal with fear:

"The only way to deal with fear that I found in my life is a couple of ways.

One of those ways to turn it on itself and ask yourself, what am I really afraid of? Am I actually afraid of that? I have to be more afraid of what I'm going to miss out on, missing out on my mission, missing out on who I'm supposed to be.

In other words, if you are not going to get rid of fear, then use fear. Use fear or it uses you, it's that simple. You have to say, okay, what's the price if I just stay doing these things? What's the real price? I need to really get scared if I learn all this and I don't follow through.

That's something to be scared about. And then that fear will get you over your actual fear. It will push you through. Turn fear on itself.

The second way you can do it is using my rocking chair test. I'm going to sit myself in my rocking chair. I'm 85 years old looking back on my life and I say I didn't do this or I did."

Do this today: When you're 85 years old and looking back on your life, what would you regret not doing? How can you take steps today towards actually doing that thing?

Here is a quote from Tony Robbins on how he's able to fix the way he feels:

“We all want to be able to change the way we feel and emotion is created by motion. The way you move determines the way you feel. I have this deal with myself called priming. Every day I say, look, you have 10 minutes for yourself. If you don't have 10 minutes for yourself you don't have a life. And I am not going to hope I feel good. I just got back from 6 countries in 12 days. I woke up here feeling like someone ran me over with a truck. The way I did it is this process. It's 10 minutes. I put some music on. I do this massive change in my breathing which changes the way I feel. And then I do this three-step process. I first do 3 minutes of gratitude, where I think of 3 things I'm really grateful for. And I associate. I don't think of it over there. I feel it.

The reason is when you are grateful you can't be worried. You can't be fearful. When you are grateful you can't be angry. And anger and fear is what screws people the most. Most people want to be happy, but their habit is to be worried, pi**ed off, frustrated, stressed. They have a highway of stress and a dirt road of happiness. I wire myself. I've got a highway to gratitude which changes all your emotions. And then I do 3 minute prayer for my family and friends. And then I do a three-minute process of the top three things I want to accomplish. I see this done, and I feel it."

Do this today: Try doing Tony's 10 minute morning ritual. Did it work for you? If not, how can you adjust it so you stop waking up like an accident and start each day feeling bold and confident?

Does your athlete need help building more confidence? If so, send us a text at (341) 444-3545 or respond back to this post with the words “build more confidence” and we’ll get back to you and let you know how we can help your athlete.

What's the biggest key to gaining confidence?

It's belief.

In order to have confidence you have to believe in yourself. No matter how hard you work or how much work you put in can help you unless you believe.

Do you or your athlete believe in themselves when it is time to step on the court?

If the answer is no you're not alone a ton of players experience the same thing.

Here's how we can create some belief:

First, is visualization. We have to visualize ourselves being successful. Or we can even visualize a skill that we might not even be good at. Research shows that Some more we see or visualize something we start to believe in ultimately can become true. So if we envision success enough it will start to happen. Set aside 5 to 10 minutes a day visualizing different skills and different plays happening. When you're visualizing make it as real as possible imagine the crowd Oh, your teammates, the environments, etc. If you can do this daily you will start to build confidence and build belief.

Second, we have to talk to ourselves in a positive way. The more we say something to ourselves the more we start to believe it and it ultimately becomes true. So if this is negative this can affect our performance in a negative manner. The first step we have to take when trying to fix our negative self-talk is becoming aware. Once we're aware, we then can find a positive replacement instead of something negative. For example, if I say “I suck at shooting” I can replace it with “ I got the next one”. This little fix can go a long way and have a tremendous impact. Next time we catch ourselves talking down on ourselves, replace it with something positive.

Third, we have to cancel out the haters. No matter how successful or unsuccessful we are there will always be haters. Instead of focusing on what others say, think about what you can do to better yourself. If we listen to the outside noise we will get caught in the trap and kill our confidence and belief.

Once we can implement all these steps we will start to gain belief.

If your athlete is struggling with belief then send us a text at (341) 444-3545. We specialize in building confident athletes. So if you want to see a transformation in your athletes confidence shoot us a text or reply directly to this post with the words “Confidence”.

We all know that one athlete that freaks out or pouts after every mistake.

What do you think happens when you react this way?

Do you think you’ll perform better or worse?

The answer is you’ll perform worse.

Believe it or not the way we react to certain situations can affect our performance in a positive or negative way.

If we freak out, complain, or show bad body language our performance will only suffer. The longer we dwell the harder it will be to get out of this slump.

So here's how we can fix it:

Step 1:

Become aware of the situation. Meaning, start to analyze how we are reacting to these mistakes.

Step 2:

Once we are aware we then can adjust how we react. Instead of showing bad body language or reacting how you normally do, we can give ourselves some feedback instead. This feedback would look like this:

“ My last 3 shots have been short so next time I shoot the ball I need to add more power into my shot.”

“ I keep getting blocked because the ball is too close to the defender. Next time I get in the situation I need to utilize the hookshot to keep the ball farther away from the defender.”

“I keep getting beat off the dribble because I'm trying to beat my man to where he was just at. Next time he tries to attack I need to beat him to where he's going. This will allow me to stay in front and cut them off.”

As you see this is a much better solution than showing bad body language. Instead I am giving myself feedback in order to improve. Once I give myself the feedback I move on to the next play keeping my head high. This feedback happens quickly and allows you to be present.

Step 3:

Another option we have is to give our self positive reinforcement. This would look like this:

“ I'm a shooter, I'm going to knock down the next one.”

“ That was the right idea but I just made the pass too late.”

“I make that play all the time, it's not going to happen again I'm going to get it next time.”

These solutions can change your performance drastically. Not only are you going to become more confident, you’re also going to be showing that you are mentally tough and can handle some adversity while playing. These are all things that coaches, scouts, and teammates notice while you're playing, so we must be aware of how we are reacting to our mistakes. these things can increase or decrease your playing time.

If your athlete is struggling with bad body language and want help then send us a text at (341) 444-3545 with the words "body language". We can help transform the way they react to mistakes.
