This is my client, Jessica, who just started out training with me since last week.
Jessica likes to go to the gym and to be active. However, she’s not 100% comfortable at the gym. She learns exercises by looking them up on youtube and trying to mimic them. She doesn’t do certain exercises because they don’t feel good or because she doesn’t know if she’s doing them right.
Hence she came to me :)
-
Here is Jessice peforming a sumo deadlift. Something she would never do on her own because it would hurt her lower back.
-
For form you want to focus on:
1. Wide stance
2. Point your toes out
3. Keep your back straight
4. Keep your chest up
5. Don’t bring your butt lower than when you feel the bar hitting the floor
-
Anyways, my client just started and she is already killing it! We’re working on form and I am making her feel more comfortable at the gym. That’s my motivation on this .👌.
Just go out there and get started.

❗️Client spotlight❗️
——————————
Meet and .cardo4377 !
They came to me 2 months ago because they wanted to lose weight and change their lifestyle. They were trapped in the most common excuses: always in a hurry, no time to cook, no time for breakfast, eating only twice a day and usually take out food of which a lot of unhealthy and fast food, tired when they got home and no energy to do anything productive,...
BUT they were ready for a change and wanted to do what it takes to get there.
——
Fast forward two months later: they have both lost about 13 lbs in body weight and have dropped about 5% in body fat! That’s amazing!!!
They came with little knowledge of exercising and lifting and are still getting familiar with a lot of movements but they are working their butts off! They are starting to get more comfortable with the movements each session and it shows! Now we just have to start pushing a little harder to increase the muscle mass ;)
——
They are not just following a diet. They have adjusted their lifestyle! They prepare all of their meals themselves and are enjoying all the fresh foods. They don’t crave fast food anymore. They eat breakfast, lunch, dinner and have a few snacks as well. They can enjoy a nice meal out, but make conscious decisions and chose sushi over jack in the box any time now, lol.
And they SEE 👀 the difference when they look in the mirror and are beyond excited with the results this far.
——
I’m grateful to be working together with this couple, to guide them to where they want to go, to push them and to see them push and motivate each other as well.
They’ve made so much progress already and I am so proud of them!! I’m excited to keep going and to push both past their limits ;)

Pull ups! Probably my favorite exercise out there. Why? Because it takes some strength to be able to do a pull up. A straight pull up. It takes strength and practice and you have to keep doing them or you’ll lose them.
And it just makes me feel like a badass when I do them 😎 haha

So how do you get there?
Slow controlled negatives.
Resistance band pull ups.
Australian pull ups.
TRX seated pull ups.
Pull up machine...
There are honestly a bunch of ways to learn them. You just have to be consistent. Practice 3 times a week. And one day you’ll rep out a straight pull up 😌

How many straight pull ups can you do?

Officially part of the crew .🙌.
Although my coach might not agree with me on this one .😂.

Nutrition is soooo important!
It’s 80% nutrition, 20% exercise.
You can work out all you want. If your nutrition is not on point you will not see the physical changes you want to see. Whether it be weight loss, muscle gain or getting stronger. Everything needs to be balanced. You can’t out train a bad diet. Does that mean you can’t ever have a donut 🍩 or eat pizza 🍕 ? No! But there is a time and place for everything. And it’s not because you worked out 60 minutes this morning, that you can go at it this weekend.
You need to be consistent.
Meal prep your food so you don’t have to go pick up less healthy food / junk food on your lunch break. If you prepare your own meals they will ALWAYS be better than anything you will pick up.
If you don’t have time to meal prep invest in a meal prep service. I promise it will be worth the results.

If you have any questions about nutrition and/or exercise, send me a DM!

Ending my Friday with a hike. So much yes 🙌

My weeks can get pretty crazy.
I still work parttime at the bike shop Mon-Thu.
I work mornings and late afternoons/evenings and a good chunk of the time weekends as a personal trainer - which soon I’ll be doing fulltime 🤗
I work out with my coach 3 times a week which is all the way in Corona. I work out myself 3 other days. I do boxing twice a week. And we just started to incorporate 3 extra cardio days in my workout routine as well.
I help out at events, which are kinda once a month - give or take.

My weekdays are pretty slammed. But when I do have some time on a Friday or the weekends I like to spend it with friends. And what better way to spend it active, enjoying some good company, taking in all the sunshine, taking in your surroundings and enjoying nature 😌 I’ll sign up for that any day!

Life can get pretty busy. And there will always be reasons to do or not to do something.
You make your own priorities.
Surround yourself with people who are likeminded and who have similar priorities.
Surround yourself with people who are going to help you become a better you, who push you, who support you.

Happy Friday ✌️

Practice makes perfect...
And although I don’t think you’ll ever reach perfection - because perfection is subjective and there is always room for improvement...
But you can strive for perfection. And by doing so you will keep improving and progressing.

Posing isn’t any different. You need to keep practicing to perfect your routine. Even in off season, even if you don’t feel like doing it, even if you feel uncomfortable doing it. Do it anyways.

This is a short vid from my posing yesterday. I know I still have work to do but it has a solid base and I’m pretty happy with how it is starting to look.

To keep growing and progressing you need to do something every day that scares you. Today for me that’s posting this video. Because it leaves me feeling vulnerable. But I did it anyways. Because I’m choosing to not let vulnerability or any other feelings mess with my growth.

Watch till the end... That smile on his face. That’s why I do what I do 😌

To be able to do what you are passionate about, learning other people what you know, making them stronger / faster / better. That is why I am a personal trainer.
To see one of your clients jump 54 inches easy 🙌 however big or small the movement, as long as you are progressing and pushing your limits and reaching your goals, I’m a happy trainer. Happy to be by your side on your journey, getting you to where you want to go.

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

My client is my today .🙌.

This lady is something. She’s an active marine. She has spent most of her prep time on ship but still found the time, dedication and discipline to stick to the plan. She just got off ship this past Thursday and is stepping on stage this upcoming Saturday, March 9th .
Not even to mention her posing! So smooth as if she’s been doing it forever. Thanks to for putting this amazing routine together with her .🙌.
I can’t wait to see her shine on stage! 🔥
So proud of this lady!

Go check her page and show her some love!

Yep, you see that right. That’s me in shorts. If you know me or ever see me work out, you know I never wear shorts to work out. And I always wear a sweater. Why? Because shorts and no sweater make me feel uncomfortable. My body is in off-season status so I’m carrying a lot more weight around than I feel comfortable with so I like to cover myself. Is it necessary? No. So why do I do it? Good question 🤔 because it just makes me feel better, makes me feel comfortable. It’s all mental.
----
But! My new coach would like me to wear shorts when we work out legs so he can actually see them 👀 and so I did. And you know what? Yes, I felt uncomfortable - more so afterwards when I had to stop by the store to pick up some things for meal prep and I felt like I was being looked at/judged by everyone at the store (I know they were really short, but I just worked out ok!). But you know what? Comfortable gets you nowhere. Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.
----
And I finally feel uncomfortable again when I work out. I have to work hard, like really hard and be pushed by my coach and push myself and keep telling myself “ok, a few more reps” and just keep going because I have that goal in mind and I want to do everything I can to get there. And I think I lost track of that feeling for a while.
----
And it’s not because I’m a trainer myself that I don’t get stuck myself sometimes. Coaches need a coach too!
----
So what makes you feel uncomfortable?
And even though it’s uncomfortable, are you doing it?
