OPENING WEEKEND: 12U RIVER MONSTERS SHOW HEART, FIGHT & GRIT! ⚾️🌊👹
The 12U Fall River Monsters opened their fall season this weekend against strong 13U competition, and while the scoreboard did not always fall their way, this group showed exactly what River Monsters baseball is about—fight, resilience, hustle and refusing to quit.
GAME 1 — Canes SW ATX 13U 7, River Monsters 3
The River Monsters faced an early deficit, but they continued to compete and battle throughout the game.
Trey R led the offense with a hit, while the team kept working at the plate and looking for opportunities to get back into the game.
Opening weekend is about learning, adjusting and getting better—and this team did exactly that.
GAME 2 — River Monsters 6, Canes SW North 13U Prime 6
Now THIS was a fight.
After falling behind 6-2, the River Monsters did not fold. They battled all the way back and tied the game at six in the bottom of the third inning.
C**t M delivered the game-tying single, completing an impressive comeback.
Connor S, Christopher S, Izaiah R, Trey R and C**t each recorded a hit, while Connor, Christopher, Izaiah, Rustin H and C**t each drove in a run.
The River Monsters also showed tremendous patience at the plate, drawing seven walks, with Noah P and Jase H collecting two apiece.
Down four runs and still finding a way back—that says a lot about this group.
GAME 3 — Canes SW North 13U Prime 10, River Monsters 7
The River Monsters saved some of their best fight for Sunday.
Despite falling behind early, they continued to battle and actually outhit the Canes 7-5.
Ty S and Christopher S each collected two hits, with Christopher going a perfect 2-for-2 and driving in two runs.
The River Monsters were aggressive all over the bases, stealing an incredible 10 bases in the game. Ty, Christopher, Izaiah R and C**t M each stole multiple bases.
They also continued to show discipline at the plate, drawing another seven walks.
And even after trailing 10-3, this team kept coming.
They pushed four more runs across and made it a 10-7 ballgame, showing once again that there is absolutely no quit in this group.
This weekend was not about perfection. It was about taking the field together, competing against older teams, learning what this group is capable of and laying the foundation for the season ahead.
We saw comebacks. We saw aggressive baserunning. We saw patience at the plate. Most importantly, we saw a group of young River Monsters who continued to fight no matter what the scoreboard said.
Opening weekend is in the books—and we are just getting started.
