Central Coast Iaido Traditional Japanese Swordsmanship, Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Iaijutsu. Classes are Tuesday evening at 5pm. Classes are now available at the SLO Buddhist Temple!

Central Coast Iaido is a traditional samurai swordsmanship club that practices at the SLO Buddhist temple. Interested in practicing a 450 year old traditional samurai swordsmanship style? No experience necessary. Iaijutsu is the ancient Japanese martial art of drawing the sword and cutting in one fluid motion. Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Iaido is a traditional samurai sword martial art that dates back

over 450 years. It's emphasis is on the drawing and cutting of the sword in a fluid, concentrated motion. This koryu bujutsu (traditional or old school) martial art focuses on self-discipline and concentration. With emphasis on etiquette and sword technique. The techniques include solo waza , paired exercises (kumitachi), and tamashigiri - test cutting on tatami rolled mats. The Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu study group in the Central Coast is led by J. Hooper, and practiced weekly at the San Luis Obispo Buddhist Temple. Instructor: J. Hooper, Nidan,
