Dear Friends,

We are delighted to invite you to join another virtual 90-minute 'Falling Through Our Stories' Circle, with Jolanda van den Berg this Saturday, Jan 8th at 7:30AM PST!

The theme of this upcoming circle?
How Do I Respond to the Suffering of Loved Ones?

Loss, grief, hardship and suffering are universal aspects of the human experience. For many, witnessing a dear one in difficulty is often harder to endure than one's own challenges. Our love and fear can often seem inextricably bound up, and our capacity to make a difference can sometimes seem painfully limited. How do we open our hearts in compassion without losing ourselves in the overwhelm of another's pain? How do we navigate our own anxieties? Where does our true response-ability lie?

Participants will have the chance to reflect on these questions and send in their responses ahead of time. As with the last gathering, there will be an opportunity for a pre-selected participant to dialog with Jolanda during the circle around particular challenges or questions that are alive for them, while the rest of us hold space as silent witnesses. There will also be time at the close for shared reflections and questions from the circle.

I can’t believe how much had done for my personal growth and development of a CA community in the Bay Area. When I arrived I had to find the right language in English, I was teaching 2-3 people at a time (for quite a while), I was constantly questioning if what I was teaching would come across the way I was hoping, if I was teaching the right way at all… It took a while to trust on the fact that a new teacher with a new style would work. That CA has something unique to offer in the yoga world.

I had a small batch of props for a group of about 10 people. And an amazing support from Olivia - the studio owner - who always believed in my ideas and guided me on the way. Slowly the community grew, and after a downfall during Covid came back stronger than ever.

It’s not an understatement to say that I truly love YoLA, the teachers and all the students and staff I met on the way.

Thank you thank you thank you. I hope all of our paths will cross again. 💛

Roberta is a amazing intuitive guide, teacher and healer, who has the unique ability to tune into people’s restrictions and unveil the path out of that stuckness. I’ve learned to listen closely to the messages by body is revealing while following her guidance into the Realization Process. Roberta is going to talk about why it is important to be attuned to the body and mind and how to integrate both into a sense of wholeness in order to create more balance.

My dear friend Jolanda van den Berg will bring her beautiful presence to the retreat ‘Come Home To Yourself’ on Saturday October 23 at 12:00pm PDT!

Jolanda is a mother, artist, entrepreneur, community-weaver and friend to the world. She lives in life’s creative flow and helps others to do the same. A few years ago an intensely traumatic experience catalyze a profound awakening for Jolanda. It left her with a lasting sense of the illusion of a separate self, and drove home the reality that “we are each other”.

During Jolandas session in this retreat, we will begin with a brief moderate conversation with Jolanda during which we will explore some of the liberating ways in which she perceives and responds to life. Following this, 3 pre-selected participants will engage in a dialog with Jolanda around a dilemma or challenge they are currently navigating. Other attendees will have the opportunity to hold space as witnesses to this sacred exchange, and will experience first-hand Jolanda’s dynamic, open-hearted way of working with people and their stories.

And another wonderful women in our upcoming retreat is Nandini Murali. 💛

She is an South Indian journalist and author whose work has long sought to give voice to stigmatized communities and those living at the margins. A year after the devastating loss of her husband to su***de, Nandini launched SPEAK (Su***de Prevention Postvention Education Awareness Knowledge).

Speaking of learning how to embrace her grief, Nandini says: “I saw her as the Devine Mother, de devi (goddess) I had exiled from my being. The damage that life has inflicted on me has in some ways made me stronger, resilient, powerful, authentic, real.”

Nandini’s session will dive into an exploration of grief, the different forms it takes, the myths that surround it, and the precious gifts that lie within this universal human experience.
