Today I celebrate 10 years of sobriety.
Double freakin’ digits. A decade.
Ten years ago, I checked myself into detox. Then rehab. I rebuilt my life from the ground up, one right choice at a time.
During this time, I discovered high-intensity Pilates by way of the Megaformer (we didn’t yet know that the superior XFormer existed 😉). I replaced my addiction to alcohol with a seat on that machine.
I can still remember the first time I pushed out into plank-to-pike, shaking, looking down at my own hands pressing firmly into the carriage. I felt determination. Presence. Strength. I felt myself coming back into my body.
I learned how to stay when things got uncomfortable. How to respect my body instead of punishing it. How to build strength slowly, by showing up one day at a time.
In so many ways, this workout helped me get my life back.
Ritual Reform was born from my own healing, and what it has become has exceeded anything I could have imagined. The relationships formed here. The confidence rebuilt. The strength (physical and mental) that I see in you every single day. What I gained through sobriety and movement has paid me back one hundred–fold through this community
Without sobriety, Ritual Reform would not exist.
To honor where this journey began, all proceeds from purchases made and classes taken today, January 9, will be donated to Casa Serena Women’s Treatment Center in Santa Barbara, the place that it all began.
If you take class today, or any day, know that your movement matters beyond these walls. Your strength is part of someone else’s beginning.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for making us a part of your own journey.
10 years sober and still building strength, together 💛
