The St. Margaret’s Episcopal School equestrian team capped off an exceptional 2025-2026 season by capturing the Orange County Interscholastic Equestrian League (OCIEL) Overall School Championship for the second consecutive year. After earning the first Overall School Championship in program history during the 2024-2025 season, the Tartans successfully defended their title against a field of 37 schools from across Southern California.

The Tartans secured the league title through strong performances across multiple divisions and age groups, demonstrating the depth and strength of a program that includes riders from Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School.

“I am so proud of our Tartan athletes for the hard work, dedication, and grit they have shown throughout the season,” said Tartan equestrian team coordinator Abby Illenberger. “This team accomplished something special this year, and it has been incredibly rewarding to watch our riders support one another while competing at such a high level.”

The celebration also marked a special farewell to senior Bella Coveyou, whose leadership and success have helped shape the Tartan Equestrian program during her four years at St. Margaret’s. Bella concluded her Tartan Equestrian career by capturing the Varsity Jumpers Championship and helping lead the Tartans to back-to-back OCIEL Overall School Championships. This fall, she will attend Harvey Mudd College to study engineering and plans to continue competing as a member of the Claremont Colleges Equestrian Team.

The Tartans’ exceptional year included:
* Overall School Champion for the second consecutive OCIEL season
* Freshman School Division Champion
* Beginner School Division Reserve Champion
* Team Captain Bella Coveyou named Varsity Jumpers Champion
* Team Co-Captain Charlotte Coveyou named Junior Varsity Jumpers Reserve Champion
* Mia Zadjmool named Freshman Equitation Reserve Champion
* Eleanora Dornin named Freshman Jumpers Reserve Champion

This past weekend Track and Field had a pretty successful day at the CIF-SS Finals in Moorpark.

Competition started with our Pole Vaulters Lia Frick and Sawyer Collins competing in the first event of the day. Lia PR’ed and Vaulted 9-07 to secure a 5th place finish. Sawyer vaulted 10-11 to also secure a 5th place finish.

Ocean Heim competed hard in the Triple Jump and secured an 8th place finish in D4 with a jump of 39-05.75.

Heidi Beshk, who started the week as an alternate for the girls 1600m, was able to secure a spot in the finals and ended up running a 5:24 to earn an 8th place finish!

Zach Causee showed up big in the boys 1600m Final by putting himself in the front early and taking control of the race in a heavily stacked field. He finished with a 3rd place podium finish with a PR of 4:22 finishing only 1 second behind 1st place.

Our boys 4x100m team, run by Lucas Monge, Ocean Heim, Kai Letcher, Cameron White, came within 0.07 seconds of breaking their own school record with a time of 43.57. They finished 7th in CIF-SS D4!

Lucas Monge doubles back to the 300m Hurdles and runs a PR of 40.02 and secures a 2nd place podium finish just milliseconds behind the leader! His time was fast enough across all divisions to secure a spot as an alternate for next weekend’s CIF Masters Meet.

The Boy’s 4x800m relay team, run by Zaiden Gurusamy, Charles Martin, Malcolm Capelle, and Zach Causeeshattered their own school record by 16 seconds to finish in a very close 2nd, just 2 seconds behind 1st place.

The Boy’s 4x400m relay team, Charles Martin, Cameron White, Zach Causee, and Lucas Monge, broke their own School Record with a time of 3:26.45 to finish 3rd on the podium!
