So proud of our advanced dancers for all of the hard work they put into preparing for The Ballet Alliance Showing! It was so special to see their time in the studio come together in performance and to share what they’ve been working on.

We’re excited for everything still ahead for our dancers through The Ballet Alliance this year!

The San Jose Dance Theatre community is deeply saddened by the passing of Lee Forbes, a beloved longtime member of the SJDT family.

Lee served as both Board President and Production Director for many years. His journey with SJDT began when he brought his sons to see The Nutcracker. Inspired by what they saw on stage, they wanted to dance themselves, and Lee enrolled them in ballet classes. From there, his own love for SJDT and its productions grew.

He began volunteering with the stage crew as a parent and eventually became Production Director and joined the Board of Directors. During times of transition for SJDT, Lee was a steady leader who helped carry the organization forward while honoring the legacy of our founders and helping preserve The Nutcracker as a cherished San Jose holiday tradition.

Lee’s impact on SJDT extended far beyond his titles. He was a leader, friend, and mentor whose dedication touched so many lives throughout our community.

We are incredibly grateful for the many years Lee gave to San Jose Dance Theatre and for the legacy he helped protect and strengthen. He will be deeply missed. Our hearts are with his family and loved ones.

Summer well spent ☀️

Many of our SJDT dancers continued their training at ballet programs across the country this summer, and today we’re highlighting three of our advanced dancers and where their training took them!

Ashley Xu attended Joffrey Ballet’s Summer Intensive in New York.

Nanami Cheng attended San Francisco Ballet’s Summer Intensive.

Anika Sison attended Boston Ballet’s Summer Intensive.

We’re so proud of the dedication our dancers showed throughout the summer and are excited to have them back in the studio for another year at SJDT. 🤍

Join us in celebrating Ashley, Nanami, and Anika!

Learning, creating, and growing through The Ballet Alliance 🩰✨

Our advanced dancers have been hard at work preparing for their upcoming TBA showing! Participating in The Ballet Alliance gives our dancers the opportunity to work with incredible artists, experience new choreography, and continue growing beyond the classroom.

Recent rehearsals have included working with SJDT faculty member Brooke Wertwijn, as well as Alison Ramoran of Diablo Ballet, who you may recognize as our Snow Queen from last year’s Nutcracker and will be returning to the role again this year! ❄️

We can’t wait to share what they’ve been working on at the TBA Showing this Saturday, September 5 at 1:30 PM!

SJDT families, help us cheer on our dancers by liking and sharing this post! 🤍
