Fire & Ice Ski Club was able to successfully have their 30th Anniversary Celebration yesterday, September 18, 2021 outside at the home of Earnestine Nelson.

Fire & Ice Ski Club emerged from All Seasons Ski Club in Oakland. Gary Garrett who is the president of All Seasons was present at the event. We were fortunate to have 6 of the Fire & Ice Charter Members in attendance: Caridad Brown, Debra Watkins, Dwight Turner, Bob Lewis, Machelnil Cormier and Otis Watkins. Fire & Ice had 4 of the past Presidents in attendance for the Celebration:
Machelnil Cormier, Trisha Harris, Zeffie Bruce and Marcelle Nichols.

Fire and Ice Ski Club promotes the acquisition of skiing skills and encourages competitive racing. Fire & Ice is much more than a ski club. Throughout the year they organize events that include ski trips, beach parties, golfing, hiking, cycling, traveling, game parties, bowling community outreach and whatever sparks the interest of the members.

Fire & Ice became a member of the National Brotherhood of Skiers (NBS) in June 1990. We were honored to have Lee Valentine, the NBS Vice President and Todd Hood the Western Region Vice President attend. For the mathematicians reading this, COVID-19 pandemic prevented us from celebrating last year. The goal of the NBS is to identify, develop, and finance the training of future African American Olympians.
