Laine's Baits We offer bait, tackle, coffee, kayak rentals, and much more at a convenient location for people to better enjoy the Alviso Marina.

Laine’s Baits is a family owned business that has been around since the 1950’s. The family tradition of selling bait was originally started by, father and son, Willis and Willis Jr. The bait shop was run out of the old barn located behind the Tilden-Laine Victorian at 970 Elizabeth Street in Alviso California. Willis’ son, Thomas Laine and his wife, Beverly Laine, later opened their own bait shop

in Martinez California under the name, Laines Company Bait Shop. Tom and Beverly would eventually move their business back to the original Alviso location and the business stayed in operation there until a few years ago. In the midst of it all, Tom and Beverly’s son, Bart Laine, branched out with his own business, Laine Shrimp Harvesters, Inc., which is a grass shrimp and crawdad wholesaler still in operation. Today, Bart’s son, Kyle, is reinventing Laine’s Baits at its new location directly down the street from the original birth place of Laines Baits over 65 years ago. Kyle plans to keep the same laid back atmosphere of a Ma and Pa shop, but plan to expand what the business has to offer to better meet the needs of the South Bay’s population. Along with a variety of frozen bait and, catch permitting, fresh grass shrimp, Laine’s Baits will sell coffee and a variety of other snacks to customers. Laine’s Baits will also offer kayak and paddle board rentals to visitors of the area, so they can better enjoy the Alviso Marina County Park. We look forward to servicing you!

Calling any able bodied fisherman. Laines shrimp harvesters is looking for two guys with their own truck to run crayfish traps in the rice fields by Maxwell. All fuel is paid for. There is room and board, full shower trailer with laundry facilities. Commercial fishing license is also included. Does not include food. The job is running traps and hauling crayfish back to the main facility to be shipped out. This is 7 days a week. Usually starts at 5-6 in the morning and can be done as early as 10-11, depends on how many fields are producing. Each person is an independent contractor and Laine shrimp harvesters will pay on how much fish is caught. Starts ASAP. Goes till about September 25th. Usually pays 6-8k.
