Mythili Kumar, our Founder/Artistic Director, received a Lifetime Achievement Award yesterday from Yuva Bharati - Indian Classical Arts (celebrating their 20th Anniversary) for her yeoman service to the Bay Area Community for the past 50 years. Here is a video snippet of the dance piece ‘Varsha’ meaning Rain presented as part of Kaalidasa’s Ritusamhara, the four seasons. Enjoy!

: Margazhi Memories from Madras!
As Margazhi season approaches, we look back to a special moment from 1990 - Our Artistic Director Mythili Kumar's, performance in Madras (now Chennai) for the Margazhi festival.

Supported by a fabulous orchestra conducted by Guru Shri Adyar. K. Lakshman - nattuvangam, Prema Ramamoorthy on vocals, T.K. Ramakrishnan on mridangam, and T.K. Padmanabhan on violin, this performance reflected her dedication in pursuing this artform overseas in the US.

35 years later, the artistry and values she embodied on that stage continue to shape every dancer at Abhinaya.
