✨ Faculty Spotlight: Derek Howard Featured in NPR ✨

As the sports industry continues to navigate evolving business models, understanding the legal implications behind major decisions is more important than ever.

In an NPR article examining FIFA's World Cup ticket pricing practices, USF Sport Management Sports Law professor Derek Howard '09 shares his expertise on the growing concerns surrounding dynamic pricing, consumer protections, and the legal scrutiny facing FIFA ahead of the 2026 World Cup. FIFA's ticketing practices have drawn significant attention, including investigations by the attorneys general of New York and New Jersey.

We're proud to have industry professionals like Derek bring real-world legal insight into the classroom and help prepare the next generation of sport business leaders to think critically about the intersection of sports, law, and fan experience.

🌎 Making a Difference Beyond the Field of Play 🌎

USF alumna and Sport Management Advisory Board member Meghna Tare, MS '03, is helping shape the future of sustainability in sports as Chief Sustainability Officer for the North Texas FIFA World Cup 2026 Organizing Committee.

Drawing on nearly 16 years of sustainability leadership experience, Meghna works alongside local governments, nonprofit organizations, and businesses to develop initiatives that create a lasting impact across the region. Her efforts include community clean-up challenges, tree-planting projects, and collaborative programs that demonstrate how major sporting events can drive positive change beyond the competition itself.

As FIFA World Cup 2026 approaches, Meghna's work highlights the important role sustainability plays in creating meaningful community impact while building a lasting legacy for future generations.

We are proud to celebrate Meghna's accomplishments and the impact she continues to make on one of the world's biggest sporting stages.
