Most recreational athletes don't need a better training program. They need to actually do the one they have.

Running coach Mario Fraioli has worked with everyone from everyday age groupers to Olympic athletes, and the advice he gives most often has nothing to do with threshold work, VO2 max or the latest training trend.

It's simpler than that (and harder than that). The formula is simple. Executing it consistently is where most people fall down. Full episode out now.👇 https://youtu.be/PqXAlpjcsdk?utm_name=sked&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_content=sked_6a2af988fd68eed41a4bba72

Back in March, Fuelin user Sandy completed the Umstead Ultra in Raleigh, N.C. At 62, she was 3rd in her age group, on the heels of an incredible 2025 Ironman season to boot.

Sandy is the resourceful type of athlete we love. She says:

"I front loaded during the daylight hours, as I knew running through the night would be slower. I switched to Maurten 160 gels and real food through the night to settle the tummy and warm the body. The temps dictated adapting my fluid and sodium accordingly."

She also made her carb bottles herself, with 180 carbs per 17oz (140g maltodextrin and 40 fructose with 1mg sodium citrate.) 🤗 Swipe through for the rest of the fuel sources she used.

Then, give her a 🙌 in the comments.

Jan Frodeno won Kona 3 times. He's widely considered the greatest Ironman athlete of all time. And by his own admission, he was still guessing his carbohydrate intake throughout his career.

In this conversation with Scott, Jan opens up about what he was leaving on the table in training, why his recovery between races could have been significantly better, and what he believes it would have meant for his career.

Even the experts get it wrong.

Fuelin coach Megan Foley is a registered dietitian with over a decade of experience. Her ferritin came back at 22. She didn't feel off. She put her fatigue down to life stress. It took a blood test to catch it.

Eight weeks after starting a supplementation protocol, her training felt easier, her swim speeds picked up, and she went on to finish fifth at 70.3 Chattanooga.

You don't know unless you test. Full episode linked in bio. 🔗

Maybe it was GI issues that came out of nowhere on the run. A blow-up on the bike that felt like a fitness problem but was actually a fueling one. A carb load that felt fine until race morning, when appetite disappeared and nothing went to plan.

These are not random bad luck events. They are predictable outcomes of a sport that asks your gut to perform across three completely different physiological conditions, in sequence, under compounding fatigue.

What works in training does not automatically translate to race day. What works on the bike doesn’t automatically work on the run. The decisions you make in the 48 to 72 hours before the gun affects everything that happens after it.

Swipe through for the breakdown, discipline by discipline, and what your nutrition strategy needs to account for at every stage.

Fuelin builds your complete triathlon nutrition plan around your race distance, training load, and individual physiology. Nothing is left to chance.

Drop your race day fueling story in the comments. We love a good troubleshooting session! 🏊 🚴🏻‍♀️ 🏃🏻‍♂️
