Mt. Diablo Boulevard ~ Celebrating 175+ Years of Lafayette’s History!

Heading east on Mt. Diablo Boulevard in the 1960s near today's Postino Restaurant. Safeway can be seen on the left. The street is now four lanes with a median strip in the center (also notice the unusual light fixtures above the street).

This photo is part of a weekly series celebrating 175+ years of Lafayette's history. Each week LHS will post a photo from one of the seven new utility box wraps along Mt. Diablo Boulevard. The series features historical images from early pioneer and farming days, Lafayette's early recreation and social clubs, the growth of the downtown, and the birth of what Lafayette is today.
The boxes are located along Mt. Diablo Boulevard between First Street and Dolores Drive.

Each box includes a QR code that can be scanned using a smartphone to access educational information presented by the Lafayette Historical Society on the historical relevance of the archival images.
