A deep tight end draft is great news for the 49er offense

The 49ers have not invested much in the tight end position under Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch, and you would be forgiven for thinking they don’t really need to this offseason.

After all, the 49ers have one of the best in the game at the position, having selected George Kittle in the fifth round of Shanahan and Lynch’s first draft in 2017 and seen him blossom into an all-encompassing force who is dominant in all aspects of the game. Kittle is coming off his most prolific season, one in which he caught 11 touchdown passes.

This year is arguably the perfect one in which to change that. Free agency presents several options, but the top tight ends on the market, which include Dalton Schultz, Mike Gesicki and Evan Engram, are likely to be out of the price range of a team with just $7.1 million in cap space, according to Over The Cap.

49ers to re-sign LS Taybor Pepper to 3-year deal

“The 49ers’ top offseason priority has been crossed off the list. San Francisco’s free agent long snapper Taybor Pepper on Saturday announced his agreement to stay with the 49ers. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported the deal is a three-year pact with $1.5 million guaranteed.”

The 5 best 49ers games of 2022: Purdy takes down the GOAT

We’re looking back at some of the most impressive performances of the season, and kicking the Bucs butt made the list

Week 14 vs. Tampa Bay, 35-7

The 49ers entered with a five-game winning streak. Meanwhile, the Bucs entered, winning three of their last four games. The hope around Tampa Bay was the team had found solid footing after a three-game losing streak from Week 6 through eight.

What happened next was the stuff out of a storybook. The 49ers jumped out to a 28-0 lead at halftime. Purdy’s father was in attendance and was shedding tears of joy watching his son dice up the Tampa Bay defense.
