Trip Update

Happy Labor Day! Searcher’s checking in with a trip report from the weekend. We returned home to Fisherman’s Landing Monday morning from our Labor Day Weekend Trip #37, September 4 – 7, 2026. This was an awesome trip, and everyone went home happy! The bluefin were bitting at night and yellowtail and dorados during the day.

Capt. Bill Poole’s beautiful 95-foot Cape Polaris was built in the Dittmar-Donaldson shipyard in Costa Mesa.

She was rechristened as the Searcher. In her day she was considered to be the Cadillac of sportfishers. She’s one of my personal, all time favorite boats. Love fishing with Art and nothing puts me to sleep faster than listening to her creak while underway. There’s nothing like the soul of a well built wooden boat.

Trip Update

Friday morning, we returned home from our second Knee Deep Brewing Company Sponsored 2-Day Trip #36, September 2–4, 2026.

The weather was a little choppy while out, but we still managed to find quality grade bluefin. We used the kite on Saturday, which proved to be very successful.

After a quick turnaround, we drove back out this morning for the Labor Day Weekend on Trip #37. Wind seems to be calming down and we’re looking forward to the next few days.

Trip Update

We returned home Wednesday morning from our Knee Deep Brewing Company Sponsored 2-Day Trip #35. Monday we arrived on scene just in time to get a good shot lat night on 30-50lb bluefin. Yesterday was a nice day on the anchor as well today fly lining for 25-80lb bluefin.

Thank you to Jim Niemiec from Western Outdoor News for joining us on the trip! When he wasn't busy taking great notes and photos, he landed a nice bluefin!

Trip Update

We’re currently out on our 3-day weekend Eric Sonner charter, Friday August 23, 2026, to Monday, August 31, 2026. Saturday we had a nice day of bluefin fishing on the anchor before the weather came up. Caught fish up to 40 lbs. We had a few the night before as well. Today, we’re sliding into the east to look for some exotics.

2 open spots on tomorrow’s 2-day trip! We’ll leave out of Fisherman’s Landing Monday morning, August 31, 2026, and return Wednesday morning, September 2, 2026.

Loaner gear is available free of charge. All meals, snacks, Knee Deep beers, and bedding are included.

Fun 3 days of fishing with the WWCME charter. Had good opportunities during the day and night. Caught a nice variety of bluefin, yellowtail and a dorado.
