The Black Flag Running Club has been on hiatus since the conclusion of the Spring season, and it's now time for a much-anticipated update.
We wrapped up the 2023 Spring Season with an outstanding performance at the Rock 'n Roll Half/Full Marathon. We had several members complete their very first full marathon, and I believe every alumni runner achieved a personal race record. With the close of the last season, these runners now join the thousands of alumni who have been part of our club over the years, and this is truly the secret to Black Flag Running Club's success. I sincerely believe that we've created something extraordinary here through the efforts of our members and coaches. New friendships have been forged, couples have met, and new additions to our running family have been welcomed. It's not just about what you do; it's about how you do it.
I also want to offer a special recognition to a few individuals who have played a pivotal role in making all of this happen: Yayoi, Heather, Prima, Robyn and Shelsea. These individuals have been instrumental in shaping the club into what it is today, and we couldn't have done it without them. From the depths of my heart, I want to extend my sincerest gratitude to each of you.
With a heavy heart and strong emotions, I must formally announce the end of an era as I prepare to close down the Black Flag Running Club. When I first entered the running community over a decade ago, I had no inkling that I would end up leading one of San Diego's premier running clubs. However, as life's seasons change, I'll be stepping back, but I'll never truly step away from San Diego's running community.
I wish each and every one of you the very best in achieving the goals you set for yourselves and the wisdom to embrace the unexpected twists and turns of life. We'll keep our social media sites active to allow our community of runners to stay in touch with one another.
I hope to see you out on the road, and I offer my heartfelt best wishes as you embark on your next chapter.
