The height of your step can completely change how a step up feels and how you can load it.
With a lower step, you can use significantly more load, making low step ups a great option for progressively overloading the glutes while keeping the range of motion more manageable. They can also be a better tolerated option for those who find deeper step ups uncomfortable on the knees.
With a higher step, you’re working through a much larger range of motion, so these are generally better suited to bodyweight. They can also be a great choice for emphasizing the quads by allowing the knee to travel forward as you sit the hips straight down.
This is one of the things we love about our Blocks. Being able to adjust the height gives you the flexibility to use the same set-up for completely different step-up variations depending on your goal.
