My dear sergaent was adopted this week, which ultimately was the goal, but the transition is quite difficult. We spent three valuable months together building a relationship, but as chapters in our lives tend to be, our chapter is over. I just hope that I can stay connected to him and his new family. The following images are after our first meeting.
When he came in to meet me, he was shaking. He were scared. He was not trusting, we spent a lot of time letting him approach me, giving him treats and letting him know that I was a safe space for him.
The second he jumped into my car his disposition completely shifted from fear to freedom, and it is written all over his face , he knew that he was going home. When we got home, I laid down his blanket and he rolled around in ecstasy, and it was clear that he knew that he was safe and he had a home and a dad and I could feel the deep sigh of relief that exuded from his energy
It was a very tough decision for me to put him up for adoption and I have been bracing myself for impact, but you’re never really ready, but this is the right choice for his quality of life, and my ability to achieve my highest quality of life.
