En La Mosca Adventures

En La Mosca Adventures San Diego Bay is a marvelous fishery that En La Mosca Adventures would love to share with you. I would like to invite you to fish with me.

I am a Coast Guard-licensed Captain and a California Department of Fish and Game-licensed guide. My specialty is fly fishing and light tackle fishing the bay for spotted bay bass, yellowfin croaker, the elusive Pacific bonefish, and many other species. We can also venture to the inshore kelp beds, depending on weather and water conditions. I also specialize in teaching boys and girls how to enjoy

San Diego Bay and introducing them to a lifetime joy of fishing. In the past four years I have logged over 300 days on San Diego Bay. In that time, I have fished with more than 50 guests from all over Southern California. Every trip has been fun and I deeply value the great friendships that have resulted. I will soon be putting my pricing structure together but for now I will leave the guide fee up to you. A minimum of $20 is requested to cover basic expenses, but more is obviously appreciated. I will provide all of the necessary rods and reels, flies, lures, and other necessary items. Feel free to bring your gear as well. Water and soft drinks will be provided along with some basic snacks. I prefer to practice CPR, Catch, Photograph and Release, with all species, especially Pacific bonefish. I would love to fish with you, teach you about San Diego Bay, and learn from you as well. Please see the other pages of my website for more valuable information. Email me at [email protected] for additional information and scheduling. Thank you for visiting En La Mosca Adventures!!

I spent Friday preparing for and Saturday fishing in the First Annual Carp Throw Down fly fishing tournament at Lake Henshaw. It was hosted by Conway Bowman and Bowman Bluewater Outfitters. My partner Steve Piper from Golden State Flycasters were in a little over our heads, particularly after Friday's practice fishing. But we listened intently to other people, used Steve's fresh water knowledge and ended up finishing 3rd just 10" short of second place on a difficult fishing day. Thanks to Conway and Al Q. for putting on a great tournament. We will be back!!

The weather is improving this week to low to mid 70s. Tides are very good this week. Use flies with rubber legs in 1/0 and #2 hook sizes. Be sure to have orange in your fly.

The weather is improving to clear skies, light wind and temperatures will be low 70s. Morning tides are very good in the morning through Friday. Water temperature is steady at 74 degrees. The water temperatures in both the Point Loma and La Jolla Kelp Beds have been going up and down the last two weeks. If the water temperature remains stable, the Calico Bass fishing should be good fishing along the kelp stringers. Look for birds and possibly barracuda.
