We are San Diego's finest swim school with locations in Carlsbad, Del Mar, Linda Vista, Murrieta, and 4s Ranch/Rancho Bernardo. At Noonan, we teach swim lessons for all ages, 3 months through adults. Our teachers work with beginners through those perfecting their swimming techniques. We provide a safe and fun environment where your children can learn to swim!

💛 Progress deserves to be celebrated, too! 💛

Not every big moment in swim lessons comes with a ribbon. Sometimes the biggest wins happen somewhere in between: trying a skill independently for the first time, finding the courage to do something that used to feel scary, or suddenly realizing, “I can do this!” 🥹🏊‍♀️

At our Murrieta location, we use special Milestone Encouragement Cards to recognize swimmers who are making exciting progress but aren’t quite ready to pass their level yet.

This little swimmer had a BIG moment when she did her fishy jumps all by herself! And judging by those smiles, she knew exactly how special that accomplishment was. 💕👏

We want our swimmers to know that we see the work happening between the ribbons, too. Because confidence is built one little victory at a time, and those victories absolutely deserve celebrating. ⭐️

Sometimes the biggest progress in swim lessons happens in the moments that are a little uncomfortable. 💙

You may see your child hesitate, get frustrated, or need a few extra tries before mastering a skill. That doesn’t necessarily mean something is going wrong. In fact, those moments can be an important part of learning.

Our instructors know when to offer support and when to give a swimmer the opportunity to problem-solve, try again, and discover what they’re capable of. 🏊‍♀️✨

And when they finally get it on their own? That feeling of “I DID IT!” is powerful. It teaches them that they can handle hard things, both in and out of the pool.

So if you see a little struggle from the sidelines, remember: progress doesn’t always look perfect. Sometimes it looks like trying, failing, adjusting…and trying again. 💦💪

💥 MYTH BUSTER MONDAY 💥

MYTH:
“My child wears floaties, so they’re safe around the pool.”

🚫 BUSTED!

Floaties, water wings, and other inflatable swim aids are not safety devices and should never be relied on to keep a child safe around water.

Here’s why we don’t recommend them for swimmers:

🛟 They can create a false sense of security.
Children may begin to believe they can safely enter the water on their own because they’re used to being supported by floaties.

🏊 They put children in an unnatural swimming position.
Many floaties hold a child upright in the water. Learning to swim requires becoming comfortable in a more horizontal body position.

💪 They do the floating for the child.
Instead of learning how their own body moves, floats, and balances in the water, children can become dependent on the device for support.

⚠️ They can slip off, deflate, or fail.
Floaties are not a substitute for active adult supervision or a properly fitted, U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket when one is needed.

💙 What do we want instead?

We want children to learn REAL water skills: how to float, control their breathing, move through the water, reach the wall, and become increasingly independent swimmers.

At Noonan Family Swim School, our goal isn’t to make children feel safe because something is holding them up.

Our goal is to teach them the skills that help them become safer, more capable swimmers.

There’s something pretty special about watching a child realize, “I can do this!” 🥹💙

Every new skill, brave attempt, big smile, and little flex is a reminder that swim lessons are about so much more than learning strokes. They’re about building confidence, independence, and pride that kids can carry with them outside the pool, too.

Keep showing up. Keep trying. Keep getting stronger. 💪🌊

💦 OPEN CLASS AVAILABILITY — LEARN TO SWIM! 💦

We have a few openings beginning the week of August 24th at our Murrieta, Carlsbad, and Del Mar locations! 🏊‍♀️☀️

All of the openings listed in these posts are for our Learn to Swim Program.

To claim one of these spots, swimmers must be:
💙 Graduates of our Splash Babies program, OR
💛 3 years old or older

Don’t see a day or time that works for you? That doesn’t necessarily mean we’re full! We may have additional openings available in existing classes depending on your child’s age and current swim level.
