Rebellion MMA is a progressive martial arts school based in San Diego, California. We are focused on Muay Thai/Thai Kickboxing, Boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Wrestling, & Filipino Martial Arts (Arnis, Kali, and Escrima). I consider myself a Jeet Kune Do practitioner. Jeet Kune Do is a predecessor of MMA. We teach Boxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Wrestling, and the Filipino Martia

l Arts of Eskrima/Escrima, Arnis, and Kali.... AND we fold everything into our MMA. Bruce Lee is famous for saying,
“You must be shapeless, formless, like water. When you pour water in a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. When you pour water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can drip and it can crash. Become like water my friend.”

Translated to apply to martial arts.... If you are forced into the Kickboxing Range you need to become a Boxer, a Muay Thai Fighter, a Filipino Boxer, or maybe a Savateur, If you are forced into the Standing Grappling Range you need to become a Wrestler, a Judo Person, a Muay Thai Clinch Fighter, or even an Filipino Dumog Fighter, if you are forced into the Ground Grappling Range you need to become a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Fighter, a Wrestler, a Sambo Player. Many styles claim they teach you to fight in all ranges and some truly do. Filipino Martial Arts are the most comprehensive that I've seen. They can fight on the Ground... BUT, they can't compare to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on the ground. Practitioners of Jeet Kune Do are searching for the best art for each of the ranges that we might find ourselves in. Many styles have "Knife Defenses".... but none of them work WITH AND AGAINST the blade better than Filipino Martial Arts. Many styles teach striking with the Hands but none of them can hold a candle to Western Boxing. So... what do we "Rebel" against? We "Rebel" against the idea that ONE ART truly covers every situation you might find yourself in. You MUST cross train AND you MUST learn how to BLEND these arts together!
