The San Diego Community Aquatic Commission operates in such a way as to improve the quality of life for the citizens of San Diego, to attract community involvement throughout Mission Bay, and to promote the use and responsible development of Mission Bay. The Organization’s efforts may include, by way of illustration and not limitation, the following initiatives:
•Encouraging public participation
in community events on and along Mission Bay
•Conducting regional, national, and international events
•Ensuring public access to the Bay and docks
•Leading development, management, and/or redevelopment of facilities and improvements serving the Organization’s mission
•Providing rowing shell, paddle board, canoe and kayak storage for individuals and universities
•Offering the community a public meeting space
•Creating community education programs, including programs for at-risk youth
•Providing the community instruction for rowing, canoeing, kayaking, paddling, dragon boating, water safety, weightlifting, and fitness programs
•Coordinating the consistent upkeep and maintenance of all boathouses and surrounding grounds with available services to boathouse owners
•Attracting elite training and competition to Mission Bay for various Olympic disciplines
•Coordinating bay usage, safety procedures, and event management among all boathouses and user groups
•Any programs, equipment, facilities, events, and initiatives deemed in the best interest of the Organization and its constituencies
