Confidence is what you perform. Certainty is what you inhabit. One is exhausting. The other is what you actually came here to lead from.
Two days ago someone I respect asked me to donate a coaching session to a silent auction benefiting Femme House, a nonprofit creating equitable opportunity for women and gender-expansive people in the music industry.
As the daughter of a musician, my answer was immediate.
Then I thought: is what I do enough for something like this?
Not whether the cause mattered. I knew that. For a long enough moment, I wondered if my contribution deserved a seat at the table. A coaching session. Next to other items, other people, other things that felt, in that split second, more obvious. More auction worthy.
I almost talked myself out of it.
Good thing I caught it. Because I know that feeling. I've named it and studied it. I've sat with clients who run multimillion dollar companies and still walk into rooms wondering if someone's going to find out they don't belong.
It's the certainty gap. The space between what you know intellectually and what your body believes the moment someone is actually watching.
I said yes. I donated the session. And I'm telling you about it because that's the work. The tiny, undramatic moments where you choose visibility anyway.
The auction is live today. Every dollar goes directly to Femme House. Link in bio to bid on a Spiral Forward Call with me, or browse what other incredible humans put in the room.
Hayley Shines and Femme House gracias for the invitation.
