Really love when I get the chance to do a creative wheel build. MCS Red and Gold ed coated stainless steel spokes laced to SunRinglé MTX-33 rim and a surprisingly nice China direct Polso hub.

The Bicycle Parlor is very happy to be an official dealer. 12 speed Shimano chains are now in stock. I'd also like to give Shimano credit for their drive to reduce or eliminate plastic in their packaging. Much of the cycling industry is surprisingly unsustainable and it is great to see such a major player taking a significant step in the right direction.

Sometimes, you jump on a bike, take a few pedals, and it just feels like magic. Something about the way the way the bike responds just feels right in a way that makes all of your knowledge about bike fit, materials, frame geometry, and components seem irrelevant. This, believe it or not, is for me one of those bikes. I took this bike in as a repair a few days ago. It had multiple broken spokes on the front wheel, cranks that were hitting the frame due to missing bottom bracket spacers, a nonfunctional brake, and a chainring that was made to drop chains and slice legs open. After replacing spokes and re-tensioning the front wheel, a new chain and chainring, and multiple small parts, it rides so much better than I ever would have expected. This is a bike that was put together out of someone's spare bmx parts. It has a headset made out of 3 different headsets. It is a joy to ride. As much as I love working on the latest and greatest high dollar carbon fiber electronic shifting super bikes, it is these small moments of transformation that really make me love what I do.

Van build complete! There is still a little stocking left to do but we are ready to roll for service! Thanks to for her patience through this lengthy process as well as designing our business card and web site. Thanks to for the great logo design and vinyl decals. Thanks to for their support. So normally, you wouldn't find most bike shops overhauling a freehub body like this, not because it's a bad idea, but because it's not economical. It is much easier to replace than to take apart and service. However, the current lack parts availability has changed the calculus for some of these situations and it pays to understand what is happening inside of these parts instead of just knowing how to replace them. I only believe in doing work the right way that is safe and reliable. That being said, I will do whatever I can to keep your bike on the roads and trails of San Diego during these somehow still uncertain times.

Our first order of parts and accessories has arrived from .bike today! Opened these boxes and the van immediately smelt like a bike shop. Feels like home.
