Big thank you to for coming out and sharing his jiu-jitsu knowledge with us. We especially appreciated the details on attacking when uke is in turtle — breaking down the position, creating openings, and using different approaches to turn uke over, advance position, establish control, and work toward a finish with either a pin or submission.

Always a privilege to learn from someone with Kurt’s experience and perspective. Thank you again for the time, instruction, and great energy.🙏🥋

Congratulations to Nick D’Antonio on his promotion to Shodan last night (5/7) at Cahill’s Judo Academy.

Earning a black belt is a major milestone — one that reflects years of dedication, perseverance, humility, and commitment. Shodan marks the beginning of a deeper level of learning, growth, and responsibility on the mat.

This promotion is especially meaningful given Nick’s family history with Cahill’s. His great-grandfather, Professor William “Bill” Montero Sr., was John Cahill’s first student and trained under Professor Henry Okazaki — a connection that goes back to the very roots of Cahill’s Judo. Bill Montero would go on to become an important part of the Cahill’s lineage, helping carry forward the tradition that continues on the mat today.

Congratulations, Nick. Well earned, and proud to see the tradition continue. 🥋☘️

Great interdojo workout with Hanabi Judo visiting Cahill’s today.

Big thank you to Sensei Dan Augustine, Sensei Sana Ishida, and the Hanabi Judo team for coming out, sharing the mat, and giving everyone some great rounds.

Special thanks to Sensei Sana Ishida, a former World Junior silver medalist, for sharing her experience with our students. Always a good thing when dojos can come together, train hard, and build friendships through judo.
