Hello Wahoos Family!
We have an urgent matter that we wanted to make you all aware of. A recent Westcreek HOA Board decision was made demanding that we remove all swim team property by tomorrow at 5 pm or they will do with it as they see fit; this can have a significant impact on our neighborhood swim team.
For approximately 20 YEARS, swim team equipment and lane lines have been stored at our neighborhood pool year-round—10 years as the Wahoos and approximately 10 years before that under the previous swim team.
Our current agreement with the HOA specifically allows the swim team to store our equipment at the pool, and it does not state that storage is limited to swim season. Despite this, we have now been told that all equipment must be removed during the off-season.
This is especially concerning because our neighborhood has already lost soccer and football. We don’t want to see another children’s program become more difficult to sustain because of an unnecessary obstacle.
We aren’t sharing this to create conflict. We are sharing it because residents deserve to know what is happening.
If you value having a neighborhood swim team and want to preserve opportunities for our kids, please respectfully share your concerns with the HOA Board.
We sincerely hope the Board will reconsider and work with the swim team on a reasonable solution that protects a neighborhood tradition that has served our children for approximately two decades.
We also hope the Westcreek community will stand behind our swim team. If you share these concerns and want to help preserve this program for our kids, we encourage you to attend the next HOA Board meeting and/or contact the HOA directly to respectfully share your concerns. Meeting: 9/17 @ 6pm for Westcreek residents only. Please go. Please be a voice for this swim team. We paid Westcreek HOA $2K+ for use of the pool (for 2 months of use and only during our practice times). We carry our own insurance for every athlete and this is an NISD summer league. Our items are stored in a locked closet at the pool for over 20 years. The lane line reel is the only thing stored outside. Which was purchased due to fundraising from our swimmers.
Our swim team belongs to this community, and we would greatly appreciate the community’s support. We need homeowners to go to this meeting and speak on this matter!!! It is not reasonable to expect swim team parents to be able to house/store lane line reels, flag poles, benches, tables, kickboards, etc for an entire swim team at their own private houses. Why won't the HOA let residents vote on matters like these when they pay for the pool along with the money Wahoos gives them annually?
We also need help moving all items today! If you can help, please message Tabitha at 361-222-4090.
Thank you and we hope you support our team at the meeting (only open to Westcreek residents).
We need your help!
