Semeneya was created in 1999 when owner Lee Rios began giving salsa lessons in his small apartment. Within weeks, he was so flooded with requests he had to expand to a humble studio space. An i

nternationally renown performer and instructor, he is considered the pioneer of the salsa and Latin dance movement in San Antonio and South Texas. In 2010, Rios finally achieved his dream of creating a European style latin dance school in San Antonio with the grand opening of 7,000 square foot, multi-level master studio which doubles as a dance studio and special event center.

Semeneya RED & BLACK 27th year Anniversary WeekenderSaturday November 14th at The St. Anthony, downtown San Antonio.

Peiwei & James Cobo teaching salsa. Peiwei’s first time teaching in Texas. Brenda Rodriguez & Alejandro Benedetto on bachata.

Five classes 9AM to 2PM. Heated rooftop pool party 3 to 6. One room of social dancing 9PM until 3AM, performances at 10:30. DJ Plaziuz on the music, more DJs to be announced.

Come Friday and it starts a day early: a free 10AM beginner class and a morning social, included with every pass.

Weekender $80 through September 15. Two-night room packages at The St. Anthony from $215 a person — nobody drives home at 3AM, you take the elevator.

Presented by RISE, a nonprofit, in recognition of Lee Rios, founder of Semeneya Dance Studio, who takes the first Teaching Legacy Award at the inaugural Ritmo Honors that Friday morning.
