San Antonio Golf Association Rules of Golf Group

San Antonio Golf Association Rules of Golf Group Providing volunteer Rules Referees for Golf Tournaments in San Antonio and surrounding areas. The Group started inviting these people to our monthly meetings.

The group was formed in 2001 by Ralph Myers when the volunteer USGA Committee Members and a few other volunteer Rules Officials wanted to meet monthly to discuss Rule situations that they experienced while working qualifiers. During 2002 while working other tournaments as Rules Officials, a number of spectators and players would ask where they could learn the Rules of Golf. In addition to discussing Rules situations and decisions, one Rule from the USGA Rules of Golf Book is reviewed every month. The Group has continued to grow as more and more people want to learn the Rules of Golf. Some become volunteer Rules Referees at local tournaments. In 2009 a trailer was purchased to handle all of GSA Rules of Golf Group's equipment. To properly conduct a competition, you must have the right equipment. We eventually grew out of this practice when we merged with Golf San Antonio and became part of the non profit organization along with the First Tee of Greater San Antonio. We welcome anyone who loves the game of golf and wants to assist with furthering their knowledge of the USGA Rules of Golf or volunteer to assist with local tournaments to contact us and/or attend our monthly meeting.
