De Ashi Harai, also known as the “Advancing Foot Sweep”
“, is a fundamental Judo technique that requires precision and timing. The technique begins with the tori and uke facing each other.The key to De Ashi Harai is to catch the uke’s foot in motion, specifically when the uke’s foot is just about to touch the ground, but the weight has not yet fully transferred onto it.

The goal is to bring Uke down to the ground while Tori remains standing. Throughout the ex*****on of O Soto Gari, Tori needs to maintain control and balance, ensuring a successful throw. Remember, like all martial arts techniques, O Soto Gari requires practice to master.
It’s not just about the physical steps, but also understanding the timing, balance, and movement of both Tori and Uke. It’s a beautiful demonstration of power, technique, and grace in Judo.
