Every superstar has a signature move, but Kobe Bryant turned the fadeaway into a masterpiece of efficiency.

While critics often labeled him a volume shooter who took difficult shots, the data from his absolute peak tells a much different story.

From 2006 to 2010, the Black Mamba operated at a level of mid-range precision that defies logic.

During those five seasons, which included two NBA championships and an MVP trophy, Kobe shot a staggering 63.5% on his fadeaways. He connected on 315 of his 496 attempts, making the most difficult shot in the game look like a routine layup.

They stayed in his jersey, contested his landing space, and forced him into the toughest angles imaginable. It never mattered.

For Kobe, a contested fadeaway was a high-percentage look because he had already made that shot ten thousand times in an empty gym.

He didn't need a teammate to set a screen or a defender to slip. He only needed a split second to turn his shoulders and fade into history.
