So where did we go? We just went radio silent for almost a year!!
Well during this barn hunt session, Pug managed to get something irritating in his eye. He then rubbed it with his dew claw which caused a significant cut.
So we began him on antibiotic eye ointments, but then strange things began happening. Bald spots, lesions, pigmentation, blanching, and oh my goodness the swelling!
Over the course of this year Pug dealt with a barrage of odd medical curiosities, much to several veterinarians' chagrin. He had biopsies and labs and X-rays, special rx diets and shots and pills. Each symptom we'd get control of, a new one would emerge.
Despite our best efforts, the cause has remained a mystery. Autoimmune is the worst thrown around most often, but we can't seem to nail it down.
What I can say is as we enter into the last month of the year - Pug Davis is finally on the mend overall. All problems have drastically reduced or gone away, and despite his glaring bald patches he really is feeling and looking so much better.
We'll share some photos in the near future, but we know how the internet is. We don't wish for his illness to be misinterpreted or shared to shame us. We know the truth, and the thousands of dollars lighter our bank accounts are to prove our efforts to help.
So Pug is currently asking for some space to heal and kind well wishes without too much prying, if you please! Don't judge too harshly when you see his new hairdo 🫣
