Last Saturday, Leanna competed in USAPLs Cowabunga meet
Another stellar performance she went 8/9 nine missing one bench press, attempt and achieving a 61 pound total PR
This prep was 12 weeks long and rolled into this meat prep right after a competition, which we typically don’t recommend. This would be called back to back, but she was eager to see what she could do on the platform before deciding to do a dedicated off-season.
🔵 Squat attempts
1st 236lbs
2nd 259lbs
3rd 270lbs PR +28lbs
🔴 Bench press attempts
1st 121lbs
2nd 132lbs previous meet best
3rd 143lbs no lift
⚫️ Deadlift attempts
First 259lbs
Second 286lbs
Third 303lbs PR +22lbs
Total 705lbs
+61lbs PR
What are things that we focused on this meet?
🟦 Hip strength
🟦 Single leg strength
🟦 Fix hip shift in the squat
🟦 Shoulder stability
These all lead to a meet prep with less discomfort and overall less nagging injuries such as tight adductors, knee pain, low back pain that we’d have to make more modifications in her previous training.
Leanna did a fantastic job showing up to each session and put in the work. Her drive to get better is a huge reason why she continues to improve.
All preps come with their own struggles and she had her fair share.
I’m grateful to have her part of the WTS fam and represent our WTS powerlifting team.
