A little Tiger Creek update:
After a week of thoughts, some discussion with some who played the new layout and ideas from our department, I made the decision to redo some of the course again.
I felt like some of the new layout felt pieced together and the flow didn't seem just right. I wasn't happy with holes 16, 17 & 18 and how the course finished.
After a long, grueling day on the course, myself and my Assistant Director put our heads together and I feel like we hit a homerun this time!
Holes 1 and 2 remain the same except we have a longer pin position on 2 we can use. When this longer pin position is in play, hole 3 will move down the fairway and the pin positions for hole 3 will go to the back of the property by the train tracks. A new bridge has been installed to cross the creek to the new hole 4 tee pads. There will be another bridge built in the middle of the new hole 4 fairway to help with movement down the fairway.
Hole 5 is now the old hole 7. When you finish hole 4, you will go up the hill past the bridge and around the corner to your right. When you finish hole 5, you will take the cut path to your right and head towards the bridge next to hole 4. There, you will find hole 6's tee pad. This hole plays the old hole 6 backwards.
When you complete hole 6, you will follow the path to the left and up to old hole 8's fairway where will you find hole 7's tee pad. Hole 7 plays down to the old hole 9's tee pad area.
After finishing 7, you will go to the left and find hole 8's new pad in the edge of the tree line on your right. It plays back to the middle of the old hole 8's fairway toward current hole 5's basket.
A short walk to the old hole 10 is now hole 9. Holes 10 and 11 are the previous holes 11 and 12. When you are done with hole 11, you will cross the road in the curve and go up the hill to hole 12. It plays back toward the sportsplex at the northern pavilion. Just on the other side of the pavilion, you will find hole 13's tee pad which plays back toward the playground on the south side of the property. There will be an elevated basket area coming up for that hole which I think you will like.
Hole 14 is by the W.K. Webb Sportsplex sign and will play down the middle of the long hill to the former hole 18 basket. When you complete that hole, you will cross the road back to the woods and play holes 15-17 which are the old holes 13 through 15.
To finish out the property, I wanted to incorporate the old hole 16. We were able to work back to that hole and create hole 18 there! You will now finish the course and walk right across the road back to hole 1's tee box area and where you parked!
Overall, I feel like we've done all we can to avoid the water issues and any extremely long walks between holes. It will never be all we can dream of it to be but I think it's better than it ever has been.
I hope you all enjoy your time at Tiger Creek. Concrete tees and signs will be up next!
